Korn Ferry is partnering with our client on their search for a Corporate Controller. Company Overview: • Our client is a high-growth, private equity-backed consumer brand operating within the apparel and retail industry, with a strong presence across eCommerce, retail stores, and wholesale distribution channels, • Headquartered in Dallas, TX, the company generates approximately $100M in revenue and continues to expand its footprint through a multi-channel go-to-market strategy, • The organization is known for its entrepreneurial culture, strong brand identity, and commitment to innovation, quality, and customer experience, • Leadership emphasizes ownership, accountability, and collaboration, creating an environment where employees are empowered to drive results and contribute to long-term growth, • The company continues to invest in systems, processes, and infrastructure to support scalability, financial visibility, and operational efficiency as it grows Role Summary: • Title: Controller, • Reports to: Chief Financial Officer, • Location: Dallas, TX (Hybrid – 3 days in office / 2 days remote), • Team Involvement: Leads a small accounting team (2 direct reports) and partners cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Merchandising, Supply Chain, and external partners, • Primary Focus: Own all accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit processes while serving as a strategic partner to leadership in a high-growth retail environment Key Responsibilities: • Lead the full-cycle accounting function, including month-end close, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analysis, • Prepare and deliver accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with US GAAP, • Oversee weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, providing insights into business performance and key drivers, • Partner closely with the CFO and private equity stakeholders to support financial reporting, analysis, and strategic initiatives, • Own inventory accounting processes across retail, eCommerce, and wholesale channels, ensuring accuracy and proper valuation, • Manage accounting for cost of goods sold, including manufacturing, procurement, duties, freight, and warehousing costs, • Establish and maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes including AP, AR, cash management, and inventory, • Oversee annual audit process and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance, • Ensure compliance with GAAP, including ASC 606 (revenue recognition) and ASC 842 (leases), • Support tax compliance efforts including sales & use tax, income tax, and other statutory reporting requirements, • Monitor cash flow, support forecasting efforts, and provide proactive insights on liquidity needs, • Improve and optimize financial systems, processes, and reporting capabilities within NetSuite and related tools, • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a collaborative and accountable team environment Ideal Candidate Profile: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting required, • CPA required; Big 4 or public accounting background strongly preferred, • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities, • Prior experience in multi-site retail, apparel, eCommerce, or consumer products environments required, • Strong expertise in inventory accounting and cost accounting within product-based businesses, • Hands-on leader willing to operate both strategically and tactically in a lean team environment, • Experience working in private equity-backed companies or fast-growth environments preferred, • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls, • Experience with NetSuite required; strong Excel skills, • Excellent communication skills with ability to partner across all levels of the organization, • Strong business acumen with ability to connect financial performance to operational drivers Compensation & Benefits: • Target base compensation range: $155K–$175K, • Bonus: 20% annual performance incentive, • Equity: Equity participation included, • Benefits Package: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and standard corporate benefits, • Work Environment: Hybrid work model with high visibility to executive leadership and private equity stakeholders Selling Points: • Opportunity to step into a true #1 accounting role within a high-growth, premium consumer brand, • Direct exposure to CFO and private equity ownership, with meaningful influence on business decisions, • Hands-on leadership role with ownership of the full accounting function in a dynamic, scaling environment, • Strong blend of strategic and operational responsibilities, including inventory, margin, and cost optimization, • High-impact position within a collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, • Ideal for a Controller who thrives in fast-paced environments and wants to build, improve, and scale accounting processes within a growing retail organization SE: 510793810
