JOB SUMMARY The Director of Accounting is responsible for leading the company’s accounting function, ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of financial information. This role oversees accounting operations, establishes processes and controls, and serves as the primary decision-maker for accounting matters, including complex or non-standard situations. The Director of Accounting ensures alignment between accounting operations and business activities, supports working capital performance, and develops a high-performing accounting team to support company growth. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Finance • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes (through Controller and team), • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and reliability of financial reporting and underlying data across the organization, • Review key accounting estimates, including revenue recognition, reserves, and accruals, • Establish andmaintaininternal controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data, • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and reporting requirements, • Collaborate with the CFO on banking and financing relationships, including coordination with lenders and financial partners, • Support and coordinate execution of equity transactions, including preparation, analysis, and coordination of related activities Accounting Operations • Drive alignment between accounting processes and business workflows, • Lead resolution of financial discrepancies impacting billing, invoicing, and reporting, • Ensure efficient execution of core accounting processes, including close, billing, and collections, • Oversee accounts receivable, billing, and collections to support timely cash conversion, • Monitor and improve working capital performance, including cash flow and aging, • Partner with IT and ERP teams to enhance accounting systems, data integrity, and reporting capabilities, • Oversee payables management and overall financial process coordination, • Communicate financial process expectations and issues to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and accountability Management • Lead and manage accounting staff, including hiring, performance management, and development, • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and expectations across the team, • Serve as the primary decision maker and escalation point for accounting-related issues, • Drive accountability for accuracy, timeliness, and process adherence, • Provide leadership in complex and ambiguous accounting and operational situations, • Apply judgment in interpreting accounting guidance and resolving non-standard issues Sales • Serve as the escalation point for accounting-related issues, • Drive alignment between accounting, finance, and business teams, • Provide financial guidance on billing, revenue recognition, and project financial performance, • Support pricing and contract considerations through accurate financial data and reporting, • Ensure alignment between revenue processes and overall business objectives Qualifications • Strong understanding of financial reporting, close processes, and internal controls, • Experience with project-based or percentage-of-completion accounting preferred, • Experience managing accounting teams and processes CONFIDENTIALITY This position has access to confidential information. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field (CPA preferred) Experience: 8-12+ years of accounting experience, including leadership roles Skills: Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word); competent working with spreadsheets, formulas, and templates KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge • GAAP, tax compliance, and industry-specific financial standards, • Leadership in managing and optimizing core accounting functions, • Audit processes, insurance renewals, and financial systems, • Financial reporting, • Budgeting, forecasting, and planning, • Job costing and revenue recognition, • Internal controls and procedures, • ERP/accounting software systems Skills • Leadership and team development, • Decision-making and problem-solving, • Process management and improvement, • Communication and cross-functional coordination Abilities • Align accounting with strategic goals, • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines, • Maintain confidentiality and ethical standards, • Adapt to change and scale systems, • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS • All positions require the completion of a successful background check, motor vehicle review, and pre-employment drug screen., • Employees must maintain an active cell phone to ensure availability for work-related coordination.
