Job DescriptionPayroll & Accounting Specialist Location: Louisville, KY Onsite | Full-Time | $22 - $28/hr. Overview A fast-paced, multi-entity organization in the Louisville area is seeking an experienced Payroll & Accounting Specialist to handle high-volume payroll processing, commissions, reconciliations, and core accounting support. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, thrives in deadline-driven environments, and enjoys both payroll accuracy and accounting logic. Fully onsite with potential limited flexibility (occasional remote day). Key Responsibilities Payroll (≈50%) • Process multiple payroll cycles across semi-monthly, bi-weekly, commission, and off-cycle runs., • Manage payroll for ~650 employees across multiple company codes., • Review and validate timecards, summaries, garnishments, deductions, bonuses, and special calculations., • Post payroll and taxes in payroll systems; ensure accuracy of all deductions (401(k), HSA, uniforms, insurance, etc.)., • Reconcile employee pay, resolve discrepancies, and maintain compliant payroll files., • Export payroll to the general ledger for posting and financial processing., • Understand FSLA rules and identify compliance issues.Commissions & Bonuses, • Calculate monthly commissions across multiple stores and pay plans., • Manage large commission spreadsheets, validate minimums, and reconcile data, • Prepare bonus postings across all relevant departments.Accounting (≈50%), • Perform GL posting related to payroll and benefits., • Complete bank reconciliations involving payroll accounts, HSA activity, and other recurring items., • Prepare and record necessary journal entries (credits, debits, corrections)., • Support monthly close, including tight deadlines and extended hours during the first 1-3 days of the month.Additional Support, • Assist with AP/AR activities as needed., • Maintain employee files and documentation., • Partner cross-functionally with HR and accounting team members.Required Experience & Skills, • Experience in high-volume payroll, ideally across multiple entities., • Strong understanding of garnishments, deductions, FSLA, and payroll compliance., • Ability to manage 50-60 payroll runs per month, plus special cycles., • Comfortable with GL exports and payroll-related accounting functions., • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (nested functions, formula manipulation; v-lookups helpful but not required)., • Experience with payroll and accounting platforms (ADP and dealership software experience beneficial but not required)., • Ability to work extended hours during month-end close.Pay Details: $21.00 to $28.00 per hour Search managed by: Elisia Bybee Benefit offerings available for our associates include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, additional voluntary benefits, EAP program, commuter benefits and a 401K plan.
