Job Description This position supports daily production by setting up and operating CNC and conventional machining equipment to fabricate metallic and nonmetallic parts. The role requires a strong quality-focused and continuous improvement mindset and involves working with a variety of materials, components, and special customer-specific setups. Duties: Including but not limited to: • Set up and operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centers., • Assist with daily production scheduling and machine setup., • Interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, manuals, specifications, and sample parts to determine dimensions, tolerances, machining sequences, and setup requirements., • Measure, mark, and scribe materials and workpieces as guides for machining., • Select, align, and secure fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on mills, lathes, drill presses, and other equipment., • Calculate and set machining parameters including speed, feed, coolant flow, depth of cut, and angles, or input and edit CNC control programs., • Start and monitor machine operations, identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and make necessary adjustments., • Perform trial runs to verify machine accuracy and program integrity., • Inspect finished workpieces to ensure conformance to specifications and quality standards., • Assemble machined components into complete assemblies and verify alignment and dimensions., • Build fixtures for drilling, milling, and turning applications., • Collaborate with engineering, production, programming, and other personnel to resolve machining or assembly issues., • Review and verify the accuracy of engineering, sales, and manufacturing documentation to ensure customer requirements are met., • Uphold quality, safety, environmental, and core value standards., • Perform additional duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications: • Associate degree in Machine or Tool and Die Technology, completion of a certified apprenticeship program, or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of manufacturing or job shop experience., • Proven ability to set up and operate both conventional and CNC equipment., • Experience working in a quality-driven manufacturing environment., • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills., • Effective verbal and written communication skills., • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documentation and procedures., • Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts including geometry, trigonometry, fractions, ratios, and tolerances., • Ability to apply common sense reasoning to follow written, oral, and diagram-based instructions. Safety glasses, drills, and taps are provided. Technical Capabilities: A qualified machinist must be able to: • Perform single-point threading for internal, external, and tapered pipe threads., • Calculate speeds, feeds, and chip loads for turning, boring, and milling operations., • Understand tooling geometry and surface finish requirements., • Sharpen drills and cutting tools, including carbide and high-speed steel., • Machine parts accurately to print across a variety of jobs., • Develop and document machining procedures, including workholding and process steps., • Understand shop equipment terminology and machining processes., • Compensate for tool deflection and maintain consistency., • Perform layout and measurement of bolt circles, slots, and coordinates., • Select appropriate tooling and measuring instruments for each job., • Apply tolerance fits accurately., • Use a machinist handbook to reference required machining data.Company DescriptionThis is a fast-growing staffing and engineering services firm.
