Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION PROPERTY: Shore Hotel TITLE: Busperson and Food Runner (Shoreside Restaurant) DEPARTMENT: Food & Beverage STATUS: Non-exempt, Part Time, Regular ($22.50 per hour) SUPERVISED BY: Director of Food & Beverage, Food & Beverage Manager, and Food & Beverage Supervisor SUPERVISES: None The Busperson and Food Runner play an integral role in supporting efficient restaurant operations and ensuring a positive dining experience for guests. In this role, the employee assists servers by delivering food promptly and accurately from the kitchen to guests, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the dining area and resetting tables in a timely manner. Responsibilities include cleaning and sanitizing tables, replenishing service stations, assisting with guest requests and supporting overall front-of-the-house operations to ensure smooth service flow. The position requires strong teamwork, attention to detail and a commitment to providing courteous and professional service consistent with the standards of a hotel dining environment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Clear used plates, glassware, utensils and linens from tables promptly., • Quickly and efficiently reset tables according to restaurant standards for incoming guests., • Maintain cleanliness of the dining room, service stations and surrounding areas., • Refill water glasses and assist with beverage service when appropriate., • Assist servers with water service, table maintenance, etc., • Ensure tables are properly set with clean utensils, napkins and condiments., • Transport dishes to the dishwashing area., • Polish glassware and silverware. Stock service stations with supplies (napkins, straws, condiments, etc.)., • Maintain the cleanliness of floors and dining areas. Assist with opening and closing duties., • Uphold and model service standards and the culture of fine hospitality., • Anticipate guest needs and resolve concerns with discretion and professionalism., • Oversee food presentation, cleanliness, and organization in alignment with restaurant and culinary standards. Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests in a timely and efficient manner., • Ensure each dish matches the order ticket and is presented according to restaurant standards., • Stay knowledgeable of hotel policies and procedures and the Team Member Handbook., • Communicate with kitchen staff and servers regarding order status and special requests., • Announce dishes to guests and confirm correct placement when delivering food., • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations, including the ability to handle guest complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results., • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure., • Assist servers by bringing additional items requested by guests (condiments, utensils, sauces, etc.)., • Provide support to food servers during high-volume service periods., • Assist with running beverages if needed. If applicable, communicate guest needs quickly to food servers or manager/s., • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, consistent with business needs and subject to applicable laws., • As necessary, ensure guest satisfaction., • Ensure all side work is completed at all times., • Understanding of the work schedule based on the hotel’s business needs., • Consistently follow the Company’s safety policies and procedures., • Perform other duties as they are assigned. EXPERIENCE: • Prior free-standing restaurant or food and beverage hotel experience is preferred., • Good verbal and interpersonal skills., • Strong front-of-the-house (FOH) presence., • Must consistently have a professional demeanor with all guests and hotel staff., • Ability to multi-task while maintaining composure in a fast-paced and high-volume restaurant environment., • Commitment to a hospitality mindset., • Attention to all details and guest satisfaction. EDUCATION: • A minimum requirement of a High School diploma or GED. WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS: • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard as necessary., • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist, and reach on a daily basis., • Able to lift and move up to 20 pounds occasionally., • Regular and on-time attendance is important, subject to applicable leave and accommodation laws., • This position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime compensation in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws, including daily and weekly overtime requirements under California law., • Ability to stand during shifts, • The physical demands and working conditions described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
