Job DescriptionSalary: Associate Pastor for Outreach Key Responsibilities: Outreach Responsible for providing pastoral oversight and programmatic leadership for FPCs Outreach ministries including but not limited to evangelism, church planting, global missions, and local missions. Worship Leadership Deliver biblically centered, relevant, and inspiring sermons aligning with the church's mission and vision. Oversee Modern Services under the direction of the Senior Pastor. Participate in traditional worship, weddings, funerals, and other special services as part of general pastoral duties. Shepherding Staff and Congregation Mentor, train, and equip staff, laity, and ministry leaders in their spiritual growth and missional collaboration. Provide pastoral care, counseling, and guidance to congregation members. Partner with staff and lay leadership to provide opportunities for discipleship. Teach bible studies within the church/community as well as other teaching within the church planting leadership community. Create, develop, and manage a thriving culture for missional focus. Vision Communication and Casting Articulate and promote the shared vision of FPC to staff, congregation, and the broader community as defined by FPCs Strategic Plan Playbook. Collaborate with the Session to implement strategic plans as defined by FPCs Strategic Plan Playbook and other priorities. Community and Denominational Representation Serve as a representative of FPC in the San Antonio community. Foster relationships within the denomination, local organizations, other churches, and community leaders to advance The Kingdoms mission. Collaborative Leadership Work to cultivate a positive and collaborative culture among the staff, laity, and community partners. Participate in senior management meetings, providing spiritual insight, and pastoral guidance. Qualifications: Education: Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or equivalent theological degree. Experience: At least five years of leadership experience in a church or Christian organization. Spiritual Maturity: Seeks Jesus and strives to obey his word daily with a strong personal devotional life, meeting the biblical qualifications of an elder. Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop staff and lay leaders. Communication Skills: Exceptional preaching, teaching, and interpersonal communication abilities. Commitment: Alignment with ECOs Essential Tenets and Polity as well as FPC's mission, vision, and theological beliefs. San Antonio San Antonio is the seventh-largest city in the United States with a population of over 1.4 million, but it feels like a smaller, approachable city with a rich tapestry of history and culture. Spaniards established the fledgling community of San Antonio de Bexar in 1718 near San Pedro springs, and the earliest settlers were Canary Islanders. Starting with San Antonio de Valero (later called the Alamo), five missions were established along the San Antonio River in the 18th century. More than 300 years later, the Riverwalk, the Alamo and other sites attract 37 million visitors a year and the five missions are designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. San Antonio is proud of its history, and the city strives to preserve its architectural heritage. Two cultural icons situated north of downtown The Pearl complex and the San Antonio Museum of Art were developed from old breweries. One of San Antonios theaters for Broadway shows and musical artists is a beautifully restored 1930s art deco movie palace. The Alamo itself is undergoing a $500 million restoration plan that re-imagines the footprint around the chapel and enhances the interpretive experience. The King William district, just south of downtown, is a walkable neighborhood of stately mansions built by German immigrants in the 1800s. San Antonios employment base is made up of the U.S. military there are three major military bases along with healthcare, education and technology. The South Texas Medical Center accounts for more than $45 billion in economic impact. San Antonio is home to USAA, the HEB grocery chain, Valero Energy and Frost Bank. San Antonio families have lots of recreational options at hand. There are two major theme parks: Six Flags Fiesta Texas and Sea World. Children also enjoy the DoSeum science museum, the San Antonio Zoo, and the splash pad and playground at Yanaguana Garden. The city has a fine park system, with over 140 miles of trails that trace rivers and creeks throughout the city. San Antonio sports fans can watch minor league baseball (the Missions), college football (UTSA Roadrunners) and San Antonios beloved NBA team, the Spurs. San Antonians love a party. Fiesta, the annual commemoration of Texas Independence that began in 1891, is an 11-day series of parades, food festivals, music and cultural events in April. The San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, held in February, draws more than a million visitors each year. There are also festivals for Dia de los Muertos, Diwali, Oktoberfest, Conjunto music and more. Within an easy drive of San Antonio, you can explore the Texas Hill Country, with rolling hills and rivers, and towns settled by Germans in the 1840s. There are wineries, restaurants, shops, some excellent barbeque and several of Texas oldest dance halls. In the other direction, Gulf coast beach towns like Port Aransas are about a three-hour drive away. Some other fun facts about San Antonio: • Visitors to the Government Canyon State Natural Area can hike to a set of dinosaur tracks that are over 100 million years old., • Children love a visit to the Quadrangle, built in 1877 at Fort Sam Houston. The enclosure has wandering deer, peacocks and bunnies., • Breckenridge Park is an urban oasis just north of downtown, and among the attractions is a Japanese garden which was carved out of an old limestone quarry, • A Mexican tradition of Las Posadas is still practiced in a season leading up to Christmas. Participants walk along a designated route, stopping at symbolic inns where they sing traditional songs and ask for shelter or posada. The group is turned away until they reach the final destination, where they are welcomed inside with joy, symbolizing the spirit of Christmas and community. Christmas on the Riverwalk is also beautiful. There are 100,000 colored lights draped over the giant cypress trees that line the river., • Bracken Cave, just outside San Antonio, is home to the worlds largest bat colony, 20 million Mexican free-tailed bats. At dusk in the summer, you can see these beautiful mammals flying gracefully all over San Antonio, eating up flying insects!
