American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Towson, Maryland. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Med Surg, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a hospital medical-surgical telemetry unit, • Cares for an adult and geriatric patient population, • Patient ratio is typically 1:5, • Common cases include CHF, chest pain, cellulitis, osteomyelitis, pancreatitis, post-amputation care, small bowel obstruction, dysrhythmias, cancer, and palliative care, • Performs EKGs and manages non-titratable drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, heparin, dopamine, dobutamine, and Lasix, • Uses telemetry equipment, IV pumps, oxygen, tele monitoring, pulse oximeter, vital signs machines, SCDs, bed and chair alarms, chest tubes, and Foleys, • Monitor techs support telemetry monitoring, • Uses tele monitoring systems in the unit, • Scheduled for night shifts (3x12 hour shifts, 19:00-7:30), • Every other weekend is required, • Works assigned holidays as scheduled, • Floating required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed, • On-call not required, • Responsibilities include monitoring telemetry, managing IV drips within parameters, and providing care for complex medical-surgical patients, • Travelers are first to float and must be comfortable floating within their scope, • Modules and unit-based orientation are provided, • RTO (Requested Time Off) must be submitted with initial application and cannot be adjusted post-offer, • RTO should not exceed 7 days, and more than 4 consecutive days of RTO will extend the contract, • Most units allow for one major holiday off during the winter season, • Block schedules or other schedule restrictions cannot be guaranteed, • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; locals under 50 miles are not eligible, • Return staff must be away at least 12 months before returning as travelers, and return travelers require a 6-month break between contracts, • Required to complete labs within 72 hours of contract signing\n \n Requirements\n, • Active MD or compact RN license required at the time of consideration, • Current BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and CPI certifications required (AHA accepted for BLS/ACLS), • Minimum 2 years of recent MS/Tele RN experience required, • Must provide two professional references from recent employers, including one supervisor or manager and one charge RN, • Experience with adult and geriatric medical-surgical and telemetry patients required, • First-time travelers are accepted\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
