Details • Work setting is a 874-bed, Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated academic teaching hospital with a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, • Emergency Department consists of 43 ED beds and 20 boarding beds, • Patient population includes trauma (GSW, stabbings, MVA, falls), stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, cardiac cath pre-op, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, respiratory illnesses, GI disorders, liver failure, and AKI/CKD, • Max RN patient ratio is 1:5, acuity dependent; CNA ratio is 1:7, • Nurses are responsible for reading and responding to telemetry monitors — no dedicated monitoring tech, • Specialized procedures include conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, blood administration, and medication drip management (cardiac, heparin, blood products, IVF), • EMR is Epic; experience preferred, • IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; patient monitors: Philips, • Schedule is 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), 36 hours per week, • Every other weekend rotation required, • No on-call responsibilities for travelers, • Floating is required to all facilities within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any freestanding ED within the region, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, LCH)Requirements, • Active NC or compact RN license required, • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and CPI; TNCC preferred, • Minimum 2 years of ED RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year, • Level I Trauma and stroke experience required, • Skills required include cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, and blood administration, • Must have a permanent address at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position, • One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration, • Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for considerationAdditional Information, • Department support includes CNAs, a receptionist/HUC, 24/7 charge nurse, phlebotomy (peripheral draws only), an IV/VAT team, a resource nurse (as available), and 24/7 respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage, • Orientation includes new employee onboarding (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation, • Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays, • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; contracted hours must still be met, • Scrubs must be navy in color, • Parking is provided at no cost, • First-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered, • Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an Advocate Health Southeast (AHSE) facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible, • Local candidates are not accepted for this position American Traveler Job ID #P-705565.
