Job Description COMPUTER/NETWORK TECHNICIAN Salary: $16.50 per hour REPORTS TO: Training Coordinator SUPERVISES: N/A MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education and Experience: Must have High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English. Preferred two (2) years' experience, Preferred Certifications OR Associate's Degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a directly related field AND one (1) year of related work experience. OR Any combination of education and experience that has been achieved and is equivalent to the stated education and experience and required knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the duties of this job. Licenses, Certificates, and Experience • Current Texas Driver's License and must have an automobile with current automobile insurance and maintain acceptable driving record during employment;, • Ability to communicate effectively (reading, writing, and understanding) in English; bilingual is preferred;, • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form;, • Ability to type a minimum of 45 WPM;, • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole, common fractions, and decimals;, • Ability to read technical users manuals and interpret information;, • Ability to use technology required to perform the job and communicate problems in nontechnical language;, • Experienced and trained in Microsoft Office, computer applications to include word processing, spreadsheets, databases and a variety of software packages;, • Able to submit to a drug urinalysis pre-screening exam, pass, and maintain a criminal background check. TYPICAL DUTIES • mains inventory Computer IT items for the department to include spare county-issued equipment like CPU, Laptops, surface pros, printers, Scanners, battery backups, Switches, servers etc., • Assists in setting up and installing new computers to include CPU, Monitors, mouse, keyboards, battery backups when assigned to do, • Offer technical support to staff and troubleshoot computer and camera problems, • Liaison contact with Computer IT Department, • Emails Helpdesk to add and delete user profiles; assist users with login problems, • Assists in verifying Audit/video with cameras and recording logs, • Assist in Receiving and processing service request for department, • Reviews documents for completeness and accuracy, • Pair documents to related information such as matching purchase orders to invoices, • Receives and distributes incoming shipments/inventory, • Assist in wire runs & drops for communications service requests, • Assists in Service and maintain voice and data networking solutions., • Assists in installations, troubleshoots and remove department wide cameras; adjusts and repairs cameras, saves recordings, makes sure camera servers are updated., • Assists in Setting up and installing network hardware and software or any updates, • Assist in current voice and data networking solutions, • Assists install and support switches, print servers, remote printers, • Assist in managing and designing internet web pages for Juvenile Probation Website and keep current; developing presentations for various audiences; sets up visual equipment for meetings, • Performs other related technology duties and projects assigned., • Coordinate with Supervisor the operations, activities that are consistent with the philosophy and objective of the department., • Assists in community resources, networking and partnerships for services to best meet the needs of the department, • Represents the department in community meetings, coalitions, training that will enhance the delivery service of the clients and families we're entrusted to serve;, • Maintains professionalism with personnel and vendors;, • Adhere, maintain, and comply with professional conduct and ethical behavior consistent with the standards and policies and procedures expected by the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA), TJJD, Cameron County, and Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department (CCJJD) always, both on duty and off duty. Abide by all federal, state, and local laws; the nature of our profession requires being a good role model and always setting a good example, • Adhere and comply with all PREA standards and will follow zero tolerance towards all forms of sexual abuse and sexual harassment while conducting business in the pre and post-adjudication facilities., • Adhere and comply with all TJJD standards to include Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) standards and cooperate with all ANE investigations., • Adhere and comply with CCJJD's and Cameron County's policies and procedures and know how to keep abreast of any changes to said policies and procedures, including maintaining an effective safety program as established by Cameron County., • Attend staff meetings and training as required., • Employment is contingent upon federal, state, local and/or grant availability., • CCJJD is an At-Will employer; the department has the right to terminate your employment for any legal reason, or no reason, at any time either with or without notice., • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor, Chief Executive Officer and/or designee to include reassignment which is in the best interest of the department. WORK ENVIORNMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work Environment: • Tobacco free environment., • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of electrical shock., • Absolutely no electronic devices or cell phones allowed in the pre or post-adjudication facilities while either on/off shift., • Must be able to work in high noise level environment., • MUST BE AVAILABLE for all emergencies to include, but not limited to: inclement weather., • At no time, will the review or use of social media be allowed while on duty, and/or on County provided electronic equipment, except in limited situations where such activity is work related and is authorized by the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer or designee. Physical Demands: • Physical requirements include the ability to lift/carry up to 50-100 pounds, visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer and basic office equipment. Subject to standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, crawling, reaching, twisting, climbing on roof, balancing, repetitive motion, and squatting to perform essential functions.
