Position: SEN Teaching Assistant (Complex Needs) Contract Type: Full-time Temporary Work Start Date: 16/03/2026 Location: Broxbourne, Hertfordshire Salary: £19,000 – £19,700 per annum Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. About the Role: Teach-Now is working in partnership with a specialist secondary setting in Broxbourne that supports pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties, including autism, communication needs, and associated sensory and behavioural needs. We are seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. Key Responsibilities: Supporting Pupils with Complex Needs • Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SLD and ASC., • Support pupils in working towards their EHCP outcomes and personalised targets., • Use visual timetables and communication systems such as PECS, Makaton or other AAC methods., • Implement sensory strategies and support emotional regulation., • Assist with personal and intimate care where required, maintaining dignity at all times. Supporting Learning • Work under the direction of the class teacher to deliver adapted, highly differentiated activities., • Reinforce learning through modelling, repetition and practical approaches., • Support the development of functional literacy, numeracy and life skills., • Encourage independence, resilience and confidence. Behaviour & Teamwork • Follow positive behaviour support plans and maintain a calm, consistent approach., • Promote positive social interaction and communication., • Work closely with teachers, therapists and other professionals., • Contribute to observations, progress monitoring and review meetings. Person Specification: Qualifications • GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above)., • Relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable). Experience • Experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly autism or severe learning difficulties., • Experience supporting communication and sensory needs (desirable).
