Senior Infrastructure Engineer Type: Permanent Salary: £70,000-80,000 Location: Woobridge (High Wycombe) Working Pattern: 3 days per week in the office We’ve partnered with a well-established technology-led business finance service for some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry. They are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join a small, highly skilled IT team responsible for keeping a business-critical on-premise environment stable, secure and highly available. This is a genuinely hands-on infrastructure role. You’ll be working across a Linux-led estate supporting customer-facing applications, backend databases, virtualised environments, storage, networking, firewalls, DR and monitoring. The environment is predominantly Red Hat Linux, with around 115 servers across production, development, QA, UAT and DR. This is not a siloed enterprise role. You’ll have broad ownership across infrastructure, work closely with software teams, and play a key part in keeping systems available for clients operating in fast-paced, deadline-driven environments. Responsibilities • Manage and support a predominantly Linux-based infrastructure estate across RHEL and some legacy CentOS environments, • Troubleshoot and maintain production, development, QA and UAT systems supporting critical business applications, • Support SAN / iSCSI storage, replication and disaster recovery infrastructure, • Maintain and improve virtualised environments across XenServer / Xcp-ng / Xen Orchestra, • Manage firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs and wider network segmentation projects, • Support monitoring, patching, vulnerability remediation and infrastructure security controls, • Work closely with the Head of IT, CISO, software teams and wider stakeholders to maintain availability and improve resilience, • Support Jenkins-led software deployments and help ensure environments are ready for release cycles, • Assist with DR testing, daily infrastructure checks, replication monitoring and backup processes, • Contribute to infrastructure improvement projects, including storage upgrades, network segmentation, monitoring improvements and server refresh work, • Provide occasional support at the DR site in Enfield when required Skills & Experience • Strong hands-on Linux administration experience, ideally across Red Hat / RHEL environments, • Confident troubleshooting Linux systems, services, logs, permissions, storage, networking and application issues, • Experience with storage technologies, ideally iSCSI / SAN environments, • Virtualisation experience, ideally XenServer, Xcp-ng or Xen Orchestra, although VMware / Hyper-V / Proxmox experience may translate well, • Good networking fundamentals across firewalls, switches, VPNs, VLANs, DNS and segmentation, • Experience working in on-premise or hybrid infrastructure environments, • Exposure to MySQL, MSSQL or PostgreSQL from an infrastructure support perspective, • Understanding of monitoring, patching, backups, DR and system availability, • Scripting experience with Bash and/or PowerShell would be beneficial, • RHCSA, RHCE or wider Linux certifications would be highly desirable, • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical issues clearly during high-pressure incidents, • Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team where priorities can change quickly What’s on offer • Salary between £70,000 and £80,000, • Broad technical ownership across Linux, storage, networking, virtualisation, security and DR, • Training support, including access to learning platforms and potential certification support, • Exposure to a varied, non-siloed infrastructure estate, • Opportunity to work closely with senior IT leadership and influence infrastructure improvements, • A supportive team environment where engineers are encouraged to suggest improvements and take ownership
