Our BenefitsOur total reward package includes a basic salary and a potential to earn rewards for excellent contribution to LeO.Stakeholder pension scheme, whereby LeO will double your contribution up to 10%.Annual Leave of 26 days per year (plus bank holidays) (pro rata for part time staff), plus you can buy or sell 4 days leave each year.Flexible hours driven by work life balance and operated between 7am and 9pm each day, this also includes hybrid working of 80% at home and 20% in the office each week.Group Income Protection if you cant work due to long term absence or injury, this protection can provide a regular income.Life assurance of 6 times your annual salaryLegal Information Service offering free advice and support with debt management, tax related matters, consumer disputes.Employee Assistance programmesOnline health, fitness, and wellbeing resourcesWellbeing championsInvestment in your career development through learning and development, talent management, coaching, mentoring and on the job experience.Are you an experienced communications professional with a proven track record of producing high-quality strategic publications for an organisation with a public profile?Do you have experience of developing Business Plans, Annual Reports, corporate strategies, consultation documents or other high-profile organisational publications?Are you passionate about creating engaging communications across multiple channels, including websites, social media, consultation responses and thought leadership content, to increase organisational impact and influence?Within this role you will lead the delivery of high-profile strategic publications, building trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and creating clear, compelling communications that support accountability, engagement and organisational impact.What you will be doingDelivering high-quality strategic publications (approximately 70% of role)Lead the drafting and delivery (in collaboration with the Programme Management & Assurance Team) of the OLCs/LeOs corporate publications including annual Business Plan and Budget consultations and final documents, the Annual Report and Accounts, and multi-year organisational strategies.Work with colleagues across LeO to ensure these publications capture our activities, impact and ambitions, creating a clear, consistent and coherent narrative.Support the Head of Communications, Engagement and Impact and Chief Ombudsman in engaging with the OLC Board ensuring their feedback is reflected in the content of corporate publications and supporting upward accountability to the Legal Services Board and Ministry of Justice as required.Work collaboratively with colleagues responsible for LeOs strategic external engagement to ensure our narrative is clear and consistent including, where appropriate, supporting the development of consultation and engagement materials for use with the legal sector, consumer representatives and other stakeholders.Work with colleagues responsible for finance, governance and assurance within LeO, as well as external audit and other official bodies, to ensure LeOs publications and their delivery meet formal accountability requirements.Manage relevant third-party suppliers, including external copywriting and design support, to deliver content and publications to a high standard and on time.Delivering impactful external content and communications (approximately 20% of role)Work collaboratively across the Communications, Engagement and Impact team to create and co-ordinate content that helps to raise LeOs profile and impact with key audiences, including via LeOs social media channels and website.Support the Strategic Engagement Manager to craft engaging external communications including media releases, consultation responses, blogs and contributions to other organisations channels to ensure LeOs insight and perspective shapes relevant policy, frameworks, and debates within and beyond legal services.Support the Learning and Insight Manager to translate LeOs insights and experience into compelling external communications. This includes annual complaints reports, regular insight and data publications, learning resources and other online content which supports the OLCs ambition that LeOs independent voice and experience lead to improvements in legal services.Work with the Strategic Engagement Manager and the Learning and Insight Manager to measure the impact and success of our communications, engagement and impact work, learning from what works to iterate what we do.As required, provide communications advice and support to LeOs Executive team to support their own effective communications and engagement with stakeholders.Management and accountability (approximately 5% of role)Play a management role in the Communications, Engagement, and Impact team, including overseeing key projects and business plan deliverables, and coaching junior colleagues supporting the teams cohesion, development and continuous improvement.Work across LeO, including with internal communications colleagues, to promote understanding of LeOs strategic narrative, corporate publications and communications.Support upward reporting, accountability and assurance where this relates to LeOs corporate publications and communications.Contribute to a positive, inclusive working culture, where everyone is supported to perform at their best and where challenge and diversity is embraced.General (approximately 5% of the role)Comply with all Legal Ombudsman policies and procedures.Work with line manager to identify training needs and actively seek out relevant training and development opportunities.Participate in LeOs Personal Development Review (PDR) process.Observe the Public Sector Equality Duty (PSED) and ensure the principles of LeOs equality strategy and policies are encompassed within all aspects of work.Ensure LeOs values of Fair, Independent, Open and Effective are encompassed within all aspects of work.Carry out any other duties as may reasonably be required by your line manager.This is not an exhaustive list of duties: the job description and person specification are an outline of the tasks, responsibilities and outcomes required by the role. It does not define all individual tasks, which may be expected to change from time to time to meet operational needs.About youProven experience writing and delivering high-quality, accurate strategic publications and corporate communications within a public-facing or similarly regulated organisation.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, engaging messages for diverse audiences.Experience developing compelling organisational narratives and producing communications aligned with strategic objectives.Strong stakeholder management skills, with the credibility to build trusted relationships and work confidently with Executive Teams and Boards.Experience supporting executive and Board-level reporting, ensuring clear accountability and high-quality governance documentation.Collaborative and proactive, with experience delivering complex communications projects across multiple teams and stakeholders.About us and why we matterPeople rely on legal services at key times in their lives whether its buying a home, dealing with bereavement, having issues at work, ending a marriage, or being involved in legal action.
