A head chef oversees all kitchen operations, combining culinary and managerial skills to ensure profitability and high-quality food. They report to the pub or general manager. Key responsibilities: β’ Manage daily kitchen operations, including cooking, food preparation, and cleanup., β’ Design and plan seasonal menus, with the creativity to develop new and enticing dishes., β’ Order inventory, manage supplier relationships, and oversee stock control and rotation to minimize waste., β’ Recruit, train, and manage kitchen staff, assigning tasks and creating work rotas., β’ Maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness in the kitchen., β’ Monitor food quality and presentation, ensuring every dish meets the pub's standards., β’ Control food and labor costs to ensure the kitchen meets financial targets., β’ Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth and efficient service.
