Head Of Nursery Services £47,578- £52,457 per annum The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people and adults annually. The Sheffield Nursery is a vibrant and diverse setting providing high quality education and care for children aged 6 months to 5 years. This is reflected through the diverse range of indoor and outdoor experiences offered to our children which are facilitated by our well-qualified, energetic and dedicated staff. This role will specifically support our ambition to provide excellent provision for early years foundation stage education and care. With overall responsibility for our multiple nursery sites, you will report to the Head of Commercial Services Main Responsibilities: To achieve these specific duties, include, but are not limited to: To lead and develop the College’s Nursery Services by growing the existing offer to develop new service propositions that maximise income and align with local and national Early Years priorities and initiatives. To maintain a “Good” or better Ofsted rating across nursery services by ensuring a safe, high quality learning environment that encompasses educational, physical, intellectual and social development in line with the Early Years Framework To lead on child protection, ensuring that the nursery services create a culture of vigilance, where children’s welfare is promoted and where timely and appropriate safeguarding action is taken for children who need extra help Promote strong partnership working with parents, carers and other key stakeholders to ensure a culture of transparency and support in order to benefit the development of every child Ensure that the nursery curriculum follows the 7 areas of learning: i) communication and language, ii) physical development, iii) personal, social and emotional development, iv) literacy development, v) mathematics, vi) expressive arts and design, vi) understanding the world Ensure that the nursery is meeting or exceeding the expectations set out in the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework for quality and consistency, secure foundations, partnership working and equality of opportunity In conjunction with the Head of Quality and Compliance Apprenticeships, WBL and Commercial, develop and monitor a robust self-assessment and quality improvement plan In partnership with the Curriculum, develop the nursery commercial training offer that supports student participation Provide support and direction through setting and monitoring of objectives, providing training and create personal development plans to ensure the achievement of targets and provision of appropriate environments for the care of children Lead and develop the College’s nursery service to maximise the income generated and the cost effectiveness of the provision To manage and account for the nursery budget and prepare and present the annual nursery business plan Undertake market research to inform proposition and provision development and help identify future needs Support the development of the Sheffield College Nursery brand. Identifying, developing and working with Marketing to effectively promote new opportunities for the nurseries, which support the strategic plan and maximise the College brand potentialincluding the production of appropriate publicity, website and social media accounts Provide information and statistical returns to meet Local Authority, College and other relevant organisations requirements Develop, implement and review policies and procedures to ensure the nursery complies with all relevant legislation and regulations, maintaining records as required From time-to-time these responsibilities may be reviewed so that they evolve as part of the college’s strategic growth and success. You may also be required to take on other tasks related to the job to support the College in the delivery of its strategic aims, without changing the role's main purpose. Cross College Responsibilities You may be required to participate in cross-college teams and working groups on key projects. You may need to attend relevant internal committees and groups. You will act as a role model to colleagues, ensuring that the responsibilities of the post are carried out in line with the College’s FREDIE+ values and behaviours. Student Related Responsibilities Anyone who has regular contact with children and young people in their day-to-day responsibilities must ensure they are safe. You will work with the Safeguarding Team, ensuring concerns regarding students/apprentices are shared in a timely, accurate manner You will be involved in supporting college open days, during the exam season student enrolment, and any other required events. Other Responsibilities All staff are responsible for ensuring the college provides a safe and sustainable environment for students, staff and visitors. You will support this by: Understanding and undertaking the specific responsibilities for their role as documented within the Health and Safety Policies and procedures. Ensure compliance with Data Protection Regulations. Ensure that environmental sustainability is a key consideration in the actions we take, working towards the college’s environmental strategy and net zero ambition. What we can offer you As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of between £47,578- £52,457 based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
