Electrical Estimator Locations: Manchester, UK Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hours: Mon-Fri Salary £50,000 - £60,000 Company Overview Our client is a well-established and fast-growing technical services provider delivering high-quality electrical and building services solutions across the UK. Due to continued expansion and a strong pipeline of commercial and industrial projects, they are looking to appoint an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their commercial pre-construction team. Role Purpose The Electrical Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive, and commercially sound electrical estimates for a wide range of commercial and industrial projects. Working closely with bid, design, and commercial teams, you will ensure all tender submissions are fully compliant, technically robust, and delivered within strict deadlines. The role plays a key part in securing new work and supporting successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities • Work closely with bid and technical teams to prepare detailed and compliant tender submissions in line with client requirements, • Identify and communicate any risks, resource issues, or workload concerns to the Estimating Manager, • Prepare and manage enquiry documentation for internal approval, ensuring timely review ahead of submission deadlines, • Ensure all tenders are prepared in line with current industry standards and best practice, • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and maintain best-value solutions, • Review drawings, specifications, and contract documents to produce accurate take-offs and estimates, • Carry out detailed quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and bills of quantities, • Produce full electrical estimates using recognized estimating software, • Ensure all bids are technically accurate and commercially viable, • Prepare subcontractor tender packages and assess returned quotations for inclusion in main submissions, • Support final bid submissions including value engineering, alternative solutions, and cost-saving opportunities, • Maintain accurate and up-to-date estimating data within internal systems, • Ensure compliance with internal estimating procedures, governance, and commercial standards, • Attend internal handover meetings and support commercial teams with project strategy development, • Represent the business in client meetings, negotiations, and tender discussions when required Skills and Experience Required • Proven experience in electrical estimating or tendering within the construction or building services sector, • Strong track record of producing competitive and successful tenders, • Good understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and technical requirements, • Strong knowledge of labour, materials, plant, and equipment costing, • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications accurately, • Experience working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, • Strong supplier and subcontractor engagement experience, • Competent in estimating software and Microsoft Office applications, • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail Planning and Organisation • Strong planning and workload management skills, • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, • Quick decision-maker with a flexible and adaptable approach, • Logical and solution-focused thinker with strong attention to detail, • Comfortable working in a changing and fast-paced environment, • Able to apply sound professional judgement in line with procedures and standards Working with People • Strong focus on client satisfaction and service quality, • Ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders effectively, • Collaborative team player who works well across multiple departments, • Responsive to client and internal team needs Communication • Confident communicator at all levels, both internal and external, • Strong verbal communication skills in meetings, calls, and negotiations, • Excellent written and numerical skills suitable for estimating and tendering, • Able to clearly present ideas, costs, and commercial strategies
