Temporary Works Structural Engineer Location: UK (Nationwide Projects)Sector: Construction / Cladding Remediation / Building SafetyEmployment Type: PermanentSalary: £50,000 – £65,000 DOE + Benefits A leading UK contractor delivering major cladding remediation and building safety upgrade projects is seeking an experienced Temporary Works Structural Engineer to join its expanding Design & Quality team. This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of temporary works design, wind loading analysis, and structural assessments across high-profile, safety-critical projects. Operating nationally, the organisation delivers technically complex remediation, regeneration, and façade-focused programmes. The Role You will provide specialist expertise in: • Temporary works design, verification, and approval, • Wind loading analysis in line with current Eurocodes, • Structural assessment of scaffolding and temporary access systems Key Responsibilities Technical & Design • Lead temporary works design reviews across a varied portfolio, • Deliver wind load calculations to BS EN 1991-1-4, including façade zones and funneling effects, • Assess scaffold, hoarding, welfare, and load distribution impacts on existing structures, • Produce calculation packs for third-party review and regulatory submission, • Prepare design risk assessments in line with CDM 2015, • Maintain digital records supporting the Golden Thread, • Support installation, inspection, and removal phases on site, • Mentor junior engineers and support continuous improvement, • Represent temporary works expertise in design meetings, • Liaise with clients, consultants, and supply chain partners Essential: • BEng/MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering, • 5+ years’ structural experience, including 3+ years in temporary works, • Strong knowledge of BS 5975, PAS 8812, CDM 2015, and Eurocodes, • Proven wind loading and scaffold load assessment experience, • AutoCAD competence and familiarity with CDE platforms, • Chartered (CEng) or working toward chartership, • Experience in cladding remediation or façade engineering, • Structural analysis software experience (STAAD, SAP2000, Robot), • Understanding of geotechnical aspects of temporary works, • Competitive salary and benefits, • Nationally significant building safety projects, • Strong CPD and chartership support, • Technically challenging role in a forward-thinking environment
