Opportunity Overview Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (Director of FP&A) is charged with building a standardized approach to financial planning, forecasting, performance management, and executive reporting across Businesses and delivering a single, consolidated, decision-ready view of GEOTEK’s overall financial and operational performance. The Director of FP&A will serve as the primary financial partner to the CFO and executive leadership team by providing objective analysis, actionable insights, and clear recommendations. GEOTEK joined the Granite community in 2009 and shares the Granite 100-year sustainability objective. The Director of FP&A will collaborate with other leaders in the Granite community, serving as a member of the Finance Affinity. The Position The Director of FP&A will build and lead a unified enterprise FP&A function across GEOTEK and its operating companies, business units, and segments (“Businesses”). This role is responsible for creating a consistent financial planning, forecasting, performance-management, and executive-reporting framework across the Businesses that currently operate on separate ERP instances and have differing reporting processes. A central objective of the position is to produce a consolidated, decision-ready GEOTEK financial and operational view while maintaining appropriate visibility into the performance of each Business. The Director of FP&A will establish common processes, reporting calendars, financial definitions, KPI standards, analytical methodologies, and governance across the enterprise. This individual will partner closely with GEOTEK and Business leadership, Finance, Accounting, Operations, Commercial, and IT teams to improve financial visibility, accountability, profitability, working capital, and cash generation. The successful candidate will combine strong financial, accounting, and manufacturing knowledge with the leadership, judgment, and change management skills necessary to develop a new enterprise capability. This is a highly visible role with regular interaction with GEOTEK’s executive and Business leaders. Major elements of the Director of FP&A’s responsibilities include: Enterprise FP&A Leadership • Design, implement, and lead a scalable solution for the GEOTEK enterprise FP&A operating model across 10 legal entities, four business units, and domestic and foreign operations while anticipating additional growth., • Establish a clear FP&A vision, implementation roadmap, governance structure, and set of standard processes for the enterprise., • Create one consolidated GEOTEK view of financial and operational performance while preserving meaningful operating company-, business unit-, product line-, customer-, and facility-level visibility., • Develop common reporting definitions, planning assumptions, analytical methodologies, and performance metrics across the operating companies., • Serve as the primary financial partner to the CFO and executive leadership team by providing objective analysis, actionable insights, and clear recommendations., • Build effective relationships with operating company leaders and local finance and accounting teams, balancing enterprise consistency with the practical needs of each business., • Establish an FP&A organization that can scale with the company, including defining future team structure, capabilities, roles, and development priorities. Management Reporting and Performance Management • Own the monthly and quarterly GEOTEK management reporting package, including the reporting calendar, standard content, definitions, review process, distribution, and continuous refinement., • Develop executive dashboards and KPI scorecards that provide a consistent, reliable, and decision-oriented view of enterprise and operating company performance, working cross functionally with data programmers for repetitive and consistent information., • Establish and maintain a common KPI dictionary and reporting governance process to promote consistency and a single source of truth across financial and operational reporting., • Translate complex financial and operational data into clear performance narratives addressing results, trends, underlying drivers, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions., • Lead monthly and quarterly business performance reviews alongside the GEOTEK CFO with enterprise and operating company leadership., • Develop standardized analyses of key manufacturing and commercial drivers, including:, • Revenue, volume, price, and mix, • Gross margin and contribution margin, • Material, labor, and overhead performance, • Manufacturing productivity and utilization, • Purchase price and production variances, • Operating expenses and cost-control initiatives, • Inventory, receivables, payables, and working capital, • Cash flow and capital deployment, • Customer, product, market, and facility profitability, • Create accountability mechanisms that connect financial results to operating actions and assigned owners., • Proactively identify emerging risks and opportunities and ensure they are incorporated into forecasts and leadership discussions. Planning, Forecasting, and Strategic Analysis • Design and lead the enterprise budgeting and forecasting framework, including timelines, templates, assumptions, data requirements, consolidation, review cycles, and executive presentations., • Implement a detailed 12-month calendar forecast, a high-level rolling forecast, and 5-year valuation forecast process across GEOTEK and its operating companies., • Establish consistent methods for evaluating performance against budget, forecast, prior year, and strategic targets., • Lead scenario planning, sensitivity analysis, and contingency modeling to help leadership understand potential outcomes and make informed decisions., • Support strategic initiatives through financial modeling and business-case development, including capital investments, capacity expansion, pricing, sourcing, productivity initiatives, restructuring activities, and other major business decisions., • Develop and maintain capital-planning and post-investment review processes to measure realized returns against approved business cases., • Support acquisition diligence, financial modeling, and the integration of future businesses into GEOTEK’s planning and reporting framework. Systems, Data, and Process Transformation • Lead the FP&A workstream required to consolidate information from separate ERP instances into a reliable GEOTEK-level reporting and planning environment., • Partner with Finance, Accounting, IT, and operating company teams to define data requirements, mapping logic, reporting hierarchies, and standardized dimensions., • Help establish common mappings for accounts, entities, facilities, departments, products, customers, and other reporting dimensions necessary for enterprise consolidation and analysis., • Develop a practical reporting and analytics architecture that delivers timely enterprise information while supporting the company’s longer-term ERP and technology strategy., • Improve reporting automation and data integrity by streamlining data flows, reducing manual processes, implementing validation controls, and resolving recurring data quality issues., • Evaluate and implement planning, consolidation, dashboard, and business intelligence tools when appropriate., • Maintain appropriate documentation, version control, model governance, access controls, and standard work for all critical planning and reporting processes., • Establish clear ownership of data, metrics, and reporting outputs across the organization., • Drive continuous improvement by identifying gaps in planning, reporting, systems, and analytical capabilities and implementing sustainable solutions. Business Partnership and Organizational Development • Develop strong partnerships with operating company presidents, finance and accounting teams, operations leaders, commercial teams, and functional executives., • Challenge assumptions constructively and help leadership teams identify the operational actions required to achieve financial commitments., • Improve financial literacy throughout the organization by helping business leaders understand financial results, key performance drivers, and the economic impact of their decisions., • Promote effective self-service reporting while maintaining appropriate controls, definitions, and governance., • Develop and coach FP&A personnel and other finance partners, establishing clear expectations for analytical quality, business partnership, communication, and accountability., • Create a culture of curiosity, fact-based decision making, transparency, and continuous improvement., • Provide ad hoc analysis and executive support for significant decisions, emerging issues, and strategic opportunities. Candidate Profile The Director of FP&A will have 10 or more years of progressive experience in FP&A, finance, management reporting, operational finance, or a related discipline, including at least three years of demonstrated leadership experience developing people, leading cross-functional initiatives, or providing functional leadership across multiple businesses. Meaningful experience in a manufacturing environment is required, and experience consolidating multi-site, multi-business, and/or multi-currency businesses is preferred. A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field is required, with an MBA, CPA, CMA, or other relevant advanced degree or professional certification preferred. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience designing and leading budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and management reporting processes, along with demonstrated success implementing standardized reporting, planning, KPI, or data governance processes across a decentralized organization. This individual will have experience building executive-level reporting packages, dashboards, financial models, and decision support materials. Experience leading finance transformation, systems implementation, ERP integration, or business intelligence initiatives is strongly preferred. Additional qualifications include: • A strong understanding of manufacturing economics and key performance drivers, including volume, price, mix, material costs, labor, overhead, productivity, utilization, margin, inventory, working capital, and cash flow., • Advanced financial modeling, forecasting, scenario planning, and analytical capabilities., • An ability to connect financial outcomes to operational drivers and translate analysis into specific recommended actions., • Executive-level communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex matters clearly, concisely, and credibly., • An ability to build effective working relationships and influence decisions across multiple operating companies without relying solely on direct authority., • A demonstrated ability to lead change, establish new processes, and create alignment in a decentralized or evolving organization., • Strong business judgment with the confidence to challenge assumptions, identify root causes, and present an independent point of view., • A natural curiosity and intellectual rigor; consistently asks why, explores alternative explanations, and pursues a complete understanding of business performance., • A strong understanding of financial statements, management accounting, internal controls, and financial data governance. Audit or trial balance level experience preferred., • An ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution, particularly while the enterprise FP&A function is being established., • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling., • Experience with ERP systems, consolidation platforms, financial-planning systems, and business-intelligence tools., • Experience with NetSuite and dashboards such as Domo or Power BI preferred., • Strong organizational and project management skills, with demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and deadline discipline., • The highest standards of integrity, discretion, accountability, and professional judgment. Location The Director of FP&A is a hybrid role that requires at least three days a week onsite at GEOTEK’s headquarters in Stewartville, Minnesota, a small community located immediately south of Rochester near the Rochester International Airport. Occasional domestic travel among GEOTEK manufacturing locations (approximately 1-2 trips per quarter) will be required. Additionally, occasional international travel may be required for business, project, or systems support. Compensation & Benefits We offer a competitive base salary in the $130,000 to $180,000 range, based on experience and qualifications, along with an annual bonus and the opportunity to participate in long-term incentives, including a stock appreciation rights (SARs) program.
