Job Description Summary Shadow Rock Congregational Church seeks a part-time Bookkeeper to oversee financial operations across multiple ministries, including the Church, Preschool, Foundation, and Festival Garden. Key responsibilities include payroll processing, accounts receivable/payable, donor record management, financial reporting, and support for budgeting and audits. This role is a great fit for a seasoned accounting professional who is detail-oriented, mission-driven, and eager to contribute their expertise in a collaborative, faith-based nonprofit environment. Duties • Generate and summarize monthly financial reporting for the Church, Preschool, Festival Garden, and Foundation, • Manage receivables and payables for all entities, • Prepare year-end financial reports, • Manage payroll processing, and generate W-2 earnings and 1099 filings, • Receive, record, and deposit contributions (offerings, donations, pledges), • Maintain donor records and issue Giving Statements (annual and as requested), • Track restricted vs. unrestricted gifts and reconcile contributions with donor records, • Acknowledge new gifts and memorial gifts and report to the Director of Operations, • Support stewardship campaigns and pledge tracking in collaboration with the Director of Operations, • Collaborate with the Director of Operations to develop, present, and review the Church’s Annual Budget, • Support Church and Foundation audits as needed, • Manage Preschool financial administration, • Manage accounts receivable and reconciliation; report aging AR to the Preschool Director, • Assist with Preschool fundraising and reporting, • Work with the Preschool Director to establish Procare tuition and Kids Day Out invoicing, • Manage financial reporting for the Shadow Rock Foundation, • Manage Festival Garden financials, • Administer investment accounts (brokerage or similar), • Research, develop, and manage grants or special projects, • Work with the Director of Operations to complete and file the United Church of Christ Annual Report, • Process biweekly payroll, employee onboarding, and new hire paperwork, • Prepare and distribute W-2s and 1099s, • Maintain employee records and compliance documentation, • Support the Director of Operations with HR-related reporting and audits, • Support IT and technology updates related to financial and database systems, • Attend Weekly Staff Meetings and participate in the business portion as assigned, • Engage in Professional Development Trainings as available Requirements • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting, • 1–3 years of relevant accounting or financial experience, • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines, • Ability to work independently while following direction and prioritizing effectively, • High standards of discretion, integrity, and professionalism, • Experience with payroll, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial systems, • Strict adherence to Shadow Rock Policies, • Physical capabilities needed to perform essential job duties (including sitting for extended periods, occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs, and using standard office equipment), • Position is onsite; after orientation and training, some tasks may be performed remotely with approval Nice To Haves • Proficiency with financial and database systems; experience with ShelbyNext, Vanco, Amplify ChMS, and Procare strongly preferred, • Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, • Comfortable working with Churches or faith-based nonprofits, • Willingness to learn, adapt, and work additional hours as required, • Mission-focused perspective and alignment with Shadow Rock’s values
