Summary of Responsibilities: As the Bookkeeper at Ambrose Construction, you’ll manage the company’s full financial cycle — including payroll, billing, reporting, and tax preparation. You’ll ensure accuracy across accounts, support project profitability, and keep our books as solid as the homes we build. Key Responsibilities: • Oversee full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations, • Track job costs and project budgets, providing timely financial insights to leadership, • Prepare and distribute invoices, statements, and financial reports, • Support quarterly and annual tax preparation, filings, and compliance activities, • Maintain accurate, organized financial records using Sage 100 Contractor and Google Workspace, • Communicate effectively with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers regarding billing and payments, • Safeguard all company financial data and maintain strict confidentiality, • Manage benefits administration and ensure insurance and subcontractor compliance Education, Experience, and Skills Required: • Experience: Minimum 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, ideally within the construction industry, • Software: Familiarity with Sage 100 Contractor, • Strong understanding of job costing, payroll, and financial reporting, • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy, • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities, • Strong communication and organizational skills, • Integrity, reliability, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality Compensation and Benefits: • Pay Range: $80,000–$100,000 annually (approximately $50/hour), depending on experience, • 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage (individual plans through Kaiser), • PTO and holidays: 6 paid holidays and 10–20 days of PTO based on tenure, • Retirement and protection: Simple IRA with 3% match and short-term disability, • Extras: $30 monthly phone stipend, mileage reimbursement, and flexible unpaid time off Personal characteristics needed to be successful in this role: • Independent and reliable — manages work accurately with minimal oversight., • Detail-driven and organized — keeps books clean across multiple projects., • Trustworthy — handles financial data with integrity., • Team-minded — communicates well and supports a small, collaborative crew., • Adaptable — thrives in a fast-moving construction environment., • Takes pride in quality work — values accuracy and craftsmanship in every task.
