Job Description The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation, a large, private, nonoperating foundation located in Port Washington, New York, is seeking a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and reconciliation. At a Glance • Part-time (15-20 hours/week), • Fully in-person in Port Washington, NY, • Flexible schedule within business hours, • Compensation: $30-40/hour This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional seeking a flexible, part-time opportunity in a mission-driven organization. Fully in-person at the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation headquarters, the Accounting Assistant reports to the Chief Financial Officer and works closely with the Accounts Principle. Key Responsibilities • Manage full-cycle accounts payable processes, including invoice entry, approvals, and payments, • Assist with preparing financial reports and ensure compliance with company policies, • Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, • Maintain records by verifying, allocating, and posting transactions, • Work on special projects as needed Education & Experience Hard Skills • Associate’s or higher with Accounting/Finance coursework, • 3-5 years bookkeeping experience, • Working knowledge of QuickBooks (Online & Desktop), • Excel proficiency Soft Skills • Detail-oriented and organized, • Discreet with confidential information, • Self-directed and reliable Compensation $30-$40 per hour [depending on experience and knowledge] About the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation The Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) private nonoperating foundation committed to strengthening communities through philanthropy, collaboration, and compassionate service.
