Job Description PAY SALARY- EFFECTIVE 01/01/2026 Maintenance Worker I - $42,916 - $57,937 - based on qualifications Maintenance Worker II - $50,058 - $67,578 - based on qualifications Maintenance Worker III - $54,062 - $72,984 - based on qualifications Hiring Bonus Opportunity - $500 at time of hiring and $500 after completion of 2 years of employment Benefits Include: • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee covered by City at 100%; reduced rate for family members., • Life insurance and long-term disability insurance covered by City at 100%., • Employees are enrolled in the KS Public Employees Retirement System (KPERS), requiring a contribution rate of 6% of salary (deducted from each paycheck)., • Additional 457 deferred compensation plan managed by Voya Financial Advisors- optional for employees., • Additional 401(a) supplemental retirement plan managed by Voya Financial Advisors- City contribution in employee’s name based on employee contribution to 457 (up to max of 5%)., • Service award at the conclusion of every third year of employment equivalent to 5% of employee’s salary., • Paid vacation (amount accrued increases every 5 years), 11 paid sick leave days, and 13.5 paid holidays per year Maintenance Workers perform work in operating all Public Works equipment and in constructing, repairing, maintaining and operating City infrastructure such as streets, sidewalks, curbs, fences, parks, playground units, trees, buildings, fountains, swimming pool, traffic control and other City infrastructure according to Public Works practices. All Maintenance Workers participate in snow removal duties and are also assigned a work crew: • Street & Drainage Crew - work assignments focus on minor street repairs, traffic signs, and stormwater system maintenance and repair., • Operates pickup truck, dump truck, wheel front loader, backhoe/loader, mowers, chain saws, trimmers, seeders, pumps, generators, snow blowers, tampers and may be required to operate sewer jet truck and street sweeper., • Spreads salt on and plows snow from streets, parking lots, and sidewalks., • Assists and performs activities in the construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of City infrastructure., • Uses and maintains various tools, equipment, and vehicles., • Complete required data entry in the field via computer and mechanized equipment., • Practice accepted safety and preventative maintenance procedures at all times., • Assists others in the performance of their Public Works duties., • Demonstrate proficient ability to operate equipment and use of hand tools., • Observe accepted safety and preventative maintenance procedures at all times., • Knowledge, understanding, and ability to follow the policies and practices., • Must be able to work in various weather conditions and physically perform the basic job abilities required in Public Works., • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent work experience., • Ability to speak, write and understand English language., • Must have a valid driver's license apply at:
