Job Description REPORTS TO Assistant Director of Facilities DEPARTMENT Facilities SUMMARY The Housekeeper / Maintenance Technician is responsible for cleaning, maintaining, and performing general building and equipment repairs to ensure safe and reliable facility operations. This position supports routine maintenance and groundskeeping activities and assists with events and facility projects as needed to help maintain a safe, clean, and efficient work environment. Clean and stock restrooms, vacuum, dust, trash, mop, and other tasks as assigned related to general housekeeping and clinic cleanliness. Keep facility orderly, attractive, clean and sanitary. Will be working in a patient care environment. POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Housekeeping & Maintenance Maintain the cleanliness of common areas and promptly respond to emergency spills as needed Clean and inspect building grounds each morning; remove litter and debris Perform snow and ice removal, including snow blowing, shoveling, and application of salt Maintain equipment and supplies in a clean, safe, and orderly condition Sweep, dust, dust-mop, and wet-mop all flooring; spot-clean and vacuum floors, rugs, carpets, and runners Maintain building grounds and trash collection areas Respond to emergency housekeeping and maintenance issues Perform basic repairs to plumbing fixtures, lighting, doors, and minor HVAC components Complete wall repairs, including patching and painting drywall Participate in life-safety inspections and compliance routines Provide assistance with events, setup, and special projects as needed Ensure all training requirements, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance standards are maintained and consistently followed. Ensure that compliance training is completed on time and that all safety protocols are followed. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. Gather and empty trash. Service, clean, and supply restrooms. Clean and polish furniture and fixtures. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. Dust furniture, machines, and equipment. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created. Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems. Keeps utility and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition. Disinfects and sterilizes equipment and supplies. Other duties as assigned by manager. POSITION REQUIRMENTS Experience Minimum 2 years of general building maintenance /Housekeeping experience Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and HVAC fundamentals Basic mechanical aptitude Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle High school diploma or equivalent Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience required. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Dependable, reliable with a strong attention to detail. Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Must be able to speak read, write and understand English. Ability to demonstrate effective, culturally sensitive communication skills and effectively communicate verbally and in writing with a variety of people. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to stand, walk, and crouch for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions Ability to safely operate hand and power tools Ability to pass a criminal background check Ability to adhere to OSHA safety standards. Physical Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and handle equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and perform physical tasks as required Ability to work outdoors and in wet, dusty, or varying temperature conditions Work Environment Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor facilities Regular exposure to water, cleaning chemicals, and mechanical equipment Position may require evenings, weekends, and on-call availability AA/EOE 08:00 am to 05:00 pm, Mondays to Fridays 40 Hours per Week
