Job Description Job Title: Installer IV • Type of Employment: Contract to Perm – Minimum of 3 months, • Requirements: Travel required - see job description The Installer IV position is an experienced professional who independently executes complex field activities related to installing, maintaining, and servicing telecommunications equipment. This role requires extensive industry knowledge and the ability to guide less experienced installers. Job Description • Understand and follow Company’s established safety practices and procedures, • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), • Perform additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits, including circuit modifications, software additions or upgrades, power transition work, addition or removal of batteries, and circuits on working power distribution sources, • Install, configure, and integrate telecommunication equipment such as switches, routers, fiber optics, and power systems in central office environments, • Mount racks, frames, and shelves, ensuring all equipment is securely and correctly installed, • Perform cable installation, termination, labeling, and lacing, adhering to industry standards, • Properly test and troubleshoot fiber/copper installations, • Perform power verification and power up equipment, • Test and evaluate systems to determine efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with existing systems, • Conduct diagnostic tests using OTDRs, power meters, and spectrum analyzers, • Maintain quality awareness and implement quality control processes, • Perform in-process and final quality inspections, • Read and stay current on installation documentation, • Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications successfully, • Interpret the job plan and scope of work, perform retrofits and upgrades for existing infrastructure, • Make recommendations based on applicable codes, standards, and best practices, • Discuss media selection and implications for implementation on the network, • Resolve job specification and/or drawing problems, • Mark and correct office record drawings, • Accurately document installation, testing, and maintenance activities, including as-built drawings and change logs, • Execute essential duties and responsibilities of Installer III plus additional leadership duties, • Provide work instruction to Level I, II, and III Installers; assign work to Level I and II Installers, • Serve as Site Crew Leader as needed, • Perform as the installation in-charge person on Common Systems jobs as needed, • Prepare Methods of Procedure (MOP) and Job Information Memorandums (JIMs), • Conduct work assignments, communicate, dress, and assist customers professionally, • Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to align installation plans and schedules, • Inventory all job-related material, • Add or remove non-powered equipment/hardware and wiring/connections on non-working equipment only, • Lead verification and continuity testing, • Analyze job specifications and drawings, • Provide guidance and training to less experienced Installers as requested or required, • May perform duties of a Level III or Level IV Installer when directly supervised by qualified personnel Managerial Responsibility • Available to travel 50%–75% of the time, • Travel may require overnight stays away from home for 1–2 weeks, including weekends, • Ability to work early morning shifts, occasional evenings, and infrequent weekends, • Lift a minimum of 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs., • Work on ladders and in confined spaces, • Safely work around electrical wires and ESD products, • Work onsite in central offices, construction, or installation sites, • Requires fine motor skills and manual dexterity for gripping tools and assembling components, • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, squat, lift, crawl, push, and pull Skills and Abilities required • Proficiency in installing cables, racks, power systems, and grounding systems, • Ability to perform equipment rack mounting, cable lacing, and termination, • Comprehensive knowledge of installation processes, • Read, interpret, and understand technical drawings and documentation, • Familiar with industry standards (AT&T TP-76300 / 76409 / Telcordia GR1275 / Verizon IP72202), • Completion of “Basic Installation” training or equivalent on-the-job training, • Successful completion of Safety, Business Code of Conduct, Quality Assurance, and ESD training, • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, • High attention to detail and full compliance with industry standards, • Advanced knowledge of current network products and installation phases, • Leadership ability to guide less experienced team members, • Time management to meet project deadlines, • Aptitude for technology and quick learning of technical concepts, • Proficiency with computers, tablets, and MS Office, • Effective communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments, • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and insurance, • Track and record work hours using time-tracking software, • High School Diploma or equivalent, • Two years of electronics training from a technical trade school or military, • Minimum of six years of field service or equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by the Installation Manager or Director, • Demonstrated proficiency in relevant Network Elements (1, 2, 3, or 4), • Experience leading, training, and motivating less experienced installers, • Management assessment and approval of proficiency in Level IV skills, • Two years of electronics training from a technical trade school or military- Preferred
