Role Description As one of the largest middle-market healthcare platforms in the country, Bailey & Company (“Bailey”) has built a unique, and proprietary, research and market development capability that differentiates itself in the market. This strategic capability is a catalyst for dialogue with private companies, private equity sponsors, and strategic buyers - enabling the firm, through its investment banking and co-investing businesses, to deliver timely, real-life, and actionable insights to investors and buyers. Coming off a high-growth year in 2025, Bailey is expanding its team and adding a Senior Associate or VP role focused on building and advancing a buy-side M&A advisory capability that utilizes and unlocks the full potential of Bailey's differentiated research and market development capability. Working with the Director, Market Development and managing directors across all of the Firm’s practice areas, this professional will collaborate with the banking team to originate and execute buy-side projects, taking the lead on research, content development, and quality assurance. While the primary focus will be buy-side work, this role will also involve work on ad-hoc research and strategy projects, such as internal thesis development work and pitch deck creation. Examples of recent research reports can be found on Bailey’s website. The role demands a sophisticated understanding of the healthcare ecosystem and middle market advisory/PE, expert research and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to engage with senior external and internal stakeholders with a high degree of professionalism. The right candidate can expect progression within this role toward increasing ownership of the buy-side business. Key Responsibilities • In partnership with the broader team, help to envision and iteratively develop the buy-side program, including scoping and productizing the offering, setting program goals, and shaping a dedicated business development strategy, • Manage execution of value-add buy-side research, including scoping, research, content development, deliverable creation, and readout to external stakeholders, • Conduct in-depth desk research and interview-based research on industry trends, adjacent sectors, M&A opportunities, potential buyers, and other relevant topics, • Act as quarterback and project manager for buy-side engagements, managing upward and downward to ensure timeline adherence, • Supervise the work of junior bankers to support research and deliverable creation, • Contribute to business development for buy-side work by participating in meetings, preparing materials, and proactively surfacing ideas, • Conduct ad-hoc research projects in support of pitches, active engagements, and internal strategy initiatives, • Maintain a robust and up-to-date knowledge of healthcare industry trends, including regulatory developments, new technologies, noteworthy deal activity, and public company news, • Cultivate and nurture relationships with industry contacts and prospective clients to support both information gathering and business development, • Attend industry conferences and in-person client or BD meetings as appropriate Required Skills & Experience • 4-year undergraduate degree from a national institution, preferably with academic distinction, • 6+ years in M&A-focused consulting, transaction advisory, M&A (buy or sell side), or a similar role; must have had some direct experience interfacing with, or working within, private equity firms, • 4+ years in healthcare with rigorous understanding of, and deep curiosity about, healthcare services, healthcare IT, payer services, and pharma services/medtech/life sciences, • Investor mindset and ability to develop a critical view of an investment opportunity, as well as understanding of transaction processes and corporate finance concepts (valuation methods, transaction structures, M&A process, etc.), • Excellence in conducting both desk research (e.g. company, industry trends, regulatory) and interview-based research (formal or informal), including knowledge of key data sources (e.g. public company filings, PitchBook, healthcare-specific datasets), • Ability to report research findings in a clear and engaging manner, in writing and verbally, • Professional communication and relationship building at a senior level, • Competency in research/consulting project management, including scoping, pacing, iterative development, and deliverable creation, • Self-management and “ownership mentality”, • Collaborative mindset and ability to partner closely with both senior and junior colleagues, • Flexibility and creativity in responding to changing client needs, industry trends, and business imperatives, • Necessary FINRA licenses or ability to obtain them, • At this time, Bailey & Company will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.
