Job DescriptionSalary: $16 Job Summary Typical Schedule: MondayFriday, 7:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. School Age Program • Prepare and supervise the morning school-age program., • Serve breakfast while following all food safety and sanitation procedures., • Ensure children are signed in, supervised, and prepared for the school day., • Safely escort children to and from the appropriate school buses., • Maintain accurate attendance records and bus rosters., • Welcome children back from school and safely receive them from the buses., • Serve afternoon snack in accordance with CACFP guidelines and center procedures., • Provide a positive, structured, and engaging after-school environment., • Maintain active supervision of children at all times. Curriculum and Activities • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities for school-age children., • Collaborate with the closing School Age Teacher to develop lesson plans and activities for:, • School holidays, • Professional development days, • Weather-related school closures, • Summer programming, • Prepare materials and maintain an organized learning environment., • Encourage creativity, independence, social development, and problem-solving through hands-on activities. Center Support • After the morning school-age program concludes, provide classroom coverage and support throughout the center as assigned., • Assist with breaks, classroom ratios, cleaning, organization, and other operational needs., • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting classrooms with children of varying ages when needed., • Complete additional duties assigned by administration to ensure smooth daily operations. Health, Safety, and Supervision • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment., • Follow all KDHE licensing regulations and Little Building Blocks policies., • Report accidents, injuries, illnesses, and safety concerns immediately., • Practice active supervision at all times., • Maintain confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff. Family Communication • Build positive relationships with families., • Greet families warmly during drop-off and pick-up., • Communicate important information regarding children's day as needed., • Direct concerns or significant issues to administration following center procedures. Professionalism • Demonstrate professionalism in appearance, communication, and conduct., • Work cooperatively with fellow staff members and administration., • Accept feedback with a positive attitude and demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow., • Attend required staff meetings, trainings, and professional development., • Uphold the mission, values, and philosophy of Little Building Blocks. Qualifications • Meet all KDHE requirements for employment in a licensed childcare center., • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Experience working with school-age children preferred., • Strong organizational and time management skills., • Ability to supervise multiple children while maintaining a positive learning environment., • Excellent communication and teamwork skills., • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing daily needs. Physical Requirements • Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds., • Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions., • Ability to safely escort children to and from buses., • Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Performance Expectations • Create a welcoming, engaging environment for children before and after school., • Ensure children are safely transported to and from school buses., • Maintain accurate attendance and accountability of all children., • Work collaboratively with fellow School Age Teachers to provide quality programming during school breaks., • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting the needs of the entire center., • Maintain professionalism and positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers., • Uphold all Little Building Blocks policies, licensing regulations, and safety standards., • Successful School Age Teachers consistently:, • Primary Duties and Responsibilities, • The School Age Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for school-age children before and after school, as well as during school breaks and days when the school district is closed. This position supports the daily transportation routine, implements age-appropriate activities, and assists throughout the center as needed during school hours.
