Seasonal (Seasonal) JOB TITLE: Race Team Coach DIVISION: Solitude Ski & Ride School REPORTS TO: Race Team Head Coach LOCATION: Solitude Ski & Ride School CLASSIFICATION: Part-Time/ Seasonal/ Hourly PAY RANGE: $23.56-33.99 based on certification POSITION: The Race Team Coach is responsible for developing athletes' skills and mindsets towards USSA competition performance at U8 - U18 events. Additionally, they will instill values and behaviors that will contribute to future success in life. In this role coaches will predominantly work with kids ages 6 to 17 in the disciplines of Kombi, Slalom, Giant Slalom and Super G. The right candidates will display an enthusiastic and professional manner, assist the athletes and parents to establish seasonal goals and a strategy to attain them, prioritize safety, and inspire lifelong participation in winter sports. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: • Available on all Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter season. Additionally available or able to assist on Tuesdays & Thursday evenings, and pre-season training starting October 1., • Advanced level skiing skills and knowledge., • Clean driving history., • Level 100 USSA certification required. Level 200 preferred or higher, or the ability to obtain these certifications during the season., • One season as an athlete in an organized US Ski and Snowboard club, or high school program. Competition experience at the US Ski and Snowboard and/or FIS level is a plus., • Multiple years of experience as a coach for an organized race club., • Familiarity with US Ski and Snowboard training programs, such as Skills Quest., • Familiar with current USSA rules, equipment requirements, and judging criteria., • Experience with Alpine race equipment, course setup, timing systems and athlete drills, • Excellent people skills are required to effectively communicate with athletes, parents, other coaches, mountain employees and guests on the mountain., • Have high standards for safety in all training environments. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL 100 COACH: Starting at $23.56 per hour • Strong understanding of the educational concepts relative to coaching U8 & U10 Athletes, • Current USSA Level 100 Certification or equivalent ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR LEVEL 200 COACH: Starting at $26.78 per hour • Strong understanding of the educational concepts relative to coaching U12 & U14 Athletes, • Current USSA Level 200 Certification or equivalent ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS FOR LEVEL 300 COACH: Starting at $30.90 per hour • Strong understanding of the educational concepts relative to coaching U14 & U16 Athletes, • Current USSA Level 300 Certification or equivalent ADDITIONAL REQUIRMENTS FOR LEVEL 400 COACH: Starting at $33.99 per hour • Strong understanding of the educational concepts relative to coaching U16 & U18 Athletes, • Current USSA Level 400 Certification/Education Staff member or equivalent JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Conduct goal setting meetings with athletes and parents at the start of the season and periodically review throughout the season., • Conduct daily training for athletes as directed and scheduled by leadership., • Provide feedback and coaching daily to athletes, maintain lesson plans and logs, and submit written year end evaluations on each athlete., • Work with competition crew to set and maintain practice racecourses, • Travel with athletes to competition events., • Maintain accurate records and promptly provide receipts for travel expenses to be reimbursed., • Communicate any needs to perform job exceptionally to leadership, • Participate in coaches' meetings, briefings, and other professional functions as directed by the Program Manager., • Assure that all facilities and equipment are properly maintained and stored., • Shoot videos and conduct movement analysis sessions with athletes regularly., • Set up and takedown of race arena, • Course setting TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel may be required for regional USSA competitions. Company vehicles will be utilized for transportation, and reimbursements will include necessary food and lodging. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Mountain Environment: • Be at Solitude Mountain Resort on time on days' work is scheduled., • The primary outdoor environment requires tolerance to exposures such as cold, snow, wind, rain, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, extreme terrain, lightning, etc..., • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with equipment., • Exposure to: Ultraviolet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude., • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees., • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
