About the Role: The Career Coach supports undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni in developing career readiness skills and pursuing meaningful professional opportunities. This role provides one-on-one coaching, workshops, and career programming focused on career exploration, job and internship searches, graduate school preparation, and professional development. The Career Coach also builds relationships with employers and campus partners to expand experiential learning and employment opportunities, and assists with planning career events and outreach efforts. This position reports to the Director of the Career Center. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience., • Four years of experience required in a related role, ideally in career services, advising, recruiting, employer relations, human resources, training and development, education, or a similar field., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking skills with the ability to convey understanding of material and subject matter., • Demonstrated ability to learn new computer applications quickly., • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to support departmental goals and operation., • Strong organizational skills, able to work independently and prioritize multiple projects and timelines., • Demonstrated evidence of cultural competence. Knowledge of working with individuals of all backgrounds and experiences and respectful of diverse perspectives., • Professional, collaborative, and customer-service oriented., • Master’s degree., • Demonstrated experience in career planning, developing advising/coaching sessions and student action plans, conducting life/planning workshops, and relating to students., • Experience with web-based career services programs (Handshake)., • A demonstrated knowledge of current occupation and career trends., • Experience with career search strategies, resume and cover letter preparation, and other career preparation knowledge., • Previous experience with career assessments (CliftonStrengths, Interest inventories, etc.). Responsibilities: Career Coaching and Education • Provide career development support to students from all academic areas. Conduct individual coaching appointments, workshops, and presentations to support students and alumni with career decision making, resume writing, interview preparation, job/internship search strategies, graduate school preparation, and professional development., • Utilize career platforms and assessment tools including, but not limited to, Handshake, CareerShift, LinkedIn, PathwayU, and CliftonStrengths to assist students and alumni in career and professional development., • Network and build relationships with local and national employers, to create opportunities for Westminster students and alumni., • Assist with enhancing and increasing experiential learning opportunities for students on and off campus., • Plan and execute career fairs, industry expos, workshops, and employer talks and panels to engage campus in career conversations., • Act as point of contact during some evening or weekend hours, as needed., • Market events and services to faculty, staff, students, employers, and alumni., • Develop and maintain strong relationships with college deans, faculty, and staff to coordinate and improve career-related programs, conversations, and events across campus.
