Job Description About the Role: The Mechanic – Diesel, Automotive, Forklift plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of construction equipment and vehicles within warehouse and construction environments. This position focuses on diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, automotive systems, and forklift machinery to minimize downtime and support continuous workflow. The mechanic will collaborate closely with warehouse operations teams to schedule and prioritize maintenance tasks, ensuring all equipment meets safety and performance standards. By proactively identifying potential mechanical issues, the role helps prevent costly breakdowns and extends the lifespan of essential machinery. This position also carries meaningful responsibility for warehouse operations including inventory management, materials receiving, cycle counting, and order processing, requiring a candidate who is equally comfortable under the hood of a diesel engine and behind a warehouse management system. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall productivity and safety of construction projects by maintaining reliable, well-functioning equipment and a well-organized, efficiently operated warehouse environment. Please note: This position is 100% on-site in Mesa, AZ. Candidates must already be in the local area with reliable transportation to commute to work daily. Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma, • Proven experience as a mechanic specializing in diesel engines, automotive systems, and forklift maintenance, • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems related to construction and warehouse equipment, • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools, • Valid DOT driver's license and ability to operate and repair forklifts, jacks, and other warehouse machinery safely, • At least 1+ years of warehouse experience, including asset management, inventory control, and materials receiving, • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite, including Excel for tracking maintenance records and inventory data, Word for documentation, Outlook for scheduling and communications, and Teams for cross-functional collaboration, • Experience using task management software (such as Monday.com, Asana, or equivalent) to track work orders, prioritize maintenance schedules, and communicate job status to operations teams, • Experience working within inventory management systems (IMS) or warehouse management systems (WMS) to receive materials, process stock requests, manage parts inventory, and maintain accurate counts, • Familiarity with barcode scanning equipment and digital inventory workflows, • Strong understanding of warehouse management best practices, including receiving procedures, storage organization, cycle counting, bin location management, and outbound materials handling, • Working knowledge of inventory management principles including FIFO, reorder points, safety stock levels, and parts lifecycle tracking, • Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly and professionally in person, by phone, and in written communications, • Ability to communicate effectively and prioritize workloads across multiple teams and deadlines, • Ability to maintain accurate records and work independently with minimal supervision, • Knowledge of basic mathematics, • Ability to bend, squat, and kneel; repetitively lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., • Ability to safely use weight-bearing equipment (such as safety harness and ladders) within maximum weight limitations, • CDL, • Experience with enterprise-level WMS platforms (such as NetSuite, SAP, or similar), • Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on diesel engines, automotive vehicles, and forklifts used in construction and warehouse operations, • Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work — including parts used, labor hours, and equipment status, using digital work order and task management systems to ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations, • Collaborate with warehouse and construction teams to schedule preventive maintenance and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, using task management software to communicate priorities and minimize operational disruptions, • Ensure all repaired and maintained equipment meets safety standards and regulatory requirements before returning to service, • Order and manage inventory of parts and supplies necessary for maintenance and repair tasks, leveraging the inventory management system to maintain accurate stock levels and coordinate with the Vendor Manager and suppliers as needed, • Operate various types of material handling equipment, • Load and unload pallets and cartons of materials used in daily operations, • Receive materials against a bill of lading or purchase order, validating quantities and updating inventory systems in accordance with audit requirements, • Stock materials in designated inventory locations, applying warehouse management best practices including proper labeling, bin location management, and FIFO protocols; inform management of shortages or damages, • Ensure materials are stored safely in designated inventory locations in accordance with audit requirements, • Process orders and returns using inventory and billing systems, • Process material stock requests accurately and in a timely manner, • Manage delivery of materials to technicians and other ByVerTek, LLC locations as needed, • Assist in preparing, counting, and reconciling daily, monthly, and annual materials cycle counts and physical inventories, maintaining accuracy across all inventory management systems, • Use Microsoft 365 tools — including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word — to manage scheduling, document repairs, communicate with team members, and report on inventory and equipment status, • Provide excellent service to internal and external customers, • Maintain warehouse area security at all times, • Provide proper use and care of scanners and computers used in daily operations, • Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe warehouse environment, • Perform other associated duties as assigned About Us: As fiber build experts, ByVerTek provides turnkey services for broadband infrastructure projects where failure is not an option.
