JOB SUMMARY: Seametrics is seeking a Electronics Design Engineer to lead the design and development of electronics for our family of flow and water quality instrumentation products. This role will be responsible for translating product requirements into robust, manufacturable electronic systems, including circuit architecture, schematic design, board-level design support, hardware bring-up, and close integration with embedded firmware. This position is ideal for an experienced engineer who combines strong electrical design depth with practical embedded systems understanding. You will work across the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping through validation, documentation, and release, while partnering closely with firmware, mechanical, test, and manufacturing teams. The role will play a key part in advancing the next generation of Seametrics products through improved hardware design discipline, system reliability, and scalable development practices. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead the architecture, design, and development of board-level electronics for flow meters, environmental sensors, and related instrumentation products., • Own schematic capture and drive overall hardware design quality, including analog, digital, mixed-signal, sensor interface, signal conditioning, power, and communication subsystems., • Support PCB design and layout activities by either performing layout work directly or tightly guiding layout resources to ensure manufacturability, signal integrity, reliability, and serviceability., • Partner closely with firmware engineers to define hardware/software interfaces and support efficient board bring-up, debugging, and validation., • Lead hardware development through the full product lifecycle, including concept development, requirements definition, design reviews, prototyping, verification, documentation, and production release., • Develop and maintain embedded firmware as needed to support hardware validation, board bring-up, and system integration., • Evaluate and select components, sensors, microcontrollers, and communication interfaces appropriate for industrial and environmental instrumentation applications., • Conduct and lead design reviews, root-cause investigations, and troubleshooting of prototype and production issues., • Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, supply chain, quality, and test engineering teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, reliable, and aligned with product requirements., • Contribute to improved engineering processes, including design standards, documentation practices, DFM/DFT considerations, and validation methods., • Support current products through sustaining engineering activities while helping define next-generation hardware platforms., • Mentor other engineers through strong technical leadership, collaboration, and sound engineering judgment., • Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Minimum Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, or a related field., • 4+ years of professional experience in electrical or embedded systems engineering, including full-cycle product development from concept through release., • Strong experience in schematic design and board-level electronics development., • Strong understanding of analog and digital circuit design, including sensor interfaces, ADCs, communication buses, power design, protection, and low-noise design practices., • Experience with embedded microcontroller-based systems and practical knowledge of hardware/software integration., • Hands-on experience with board bring-up, lab debugging, and root-cause analysis using standard bench equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, and power instrumentation., • Experience with common embedded communication interfaces such as SPI, I2C, UART, RS-485, and related industrial communications., • Familiarity with PCB layout principles and close collaboration with layout tools and workflows., • Working knowledge of embedded firmware development in C sufficient to support integration, debug, and validation activities., • Strong design documentation skills, including schematics, design notes, test plans, and release documentation., • Strong written and verbal communication skills., • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams., • Experience designing industrial instrumentation, sensing products, or precision measurement systems., • Experience with flow measurement, environmental sensors, water quality instrumentation, or similar electromechanical products., • Experience with Altium Designer or comparable ECAD tools., • Direct PCB layout experience., • Experience with STM32, PIC, or similar microcontroller families., • Experience with low-power design for battery-operated products., • Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and production test strategy., • Experience with EMC/EMI, grounding, shielding, and environmental robustness considerations in industrial products., • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, HART, Bluetooth, or Wi-Fi., • Experience supporting products through manufacturing transfer and sustaining engineering., • Exposure to statistical analysis concepts such as repeatability, tolerance analysis, error bands, and measurement performance. WORKING CONDITIONS: Physical Demand(s): Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and sit or stand for extended periods. Visual Demand(s): Must be able to work at a computer and lab bench for extended periods. Hazard(s): Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, which may involve exposure to machinery, noise, and other industrial conditions.
