TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION: Salary Range: $125,808 - $157,188 Description: The Director of Student Services directs the planning, development, organization, management, direction, and implementation of all aspects of Student Services program for the District. Responsibilities include gifted programming, child welfare and attendance, discipline procedures and hearings, enrollment services, McKinney-Vento and Title IX. He/She assures compliance with laws, codes (student and athlete) of conduct, and regulations related to Student Services; evaluates assigned personnel and performs related work as required. Essential Functions: • Assist in the formation of a philosophy and objectives for the student services programs, • Supervises and evaluates social workers, pupil services personnel, school nurses, and Welcome Center staff., • Monitors the implementation and evaluation of support programs regarding truancy and social worker support., • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy, • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., test scores, student/personnel information, • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents, • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation, • Manage McKinney Vento students with the Director of Transportation, • Attend meetings and in-services as required, • Provides leadership and vision to ensure compliance in matters relating to students, • Perform Title IX Investigations, • Oversee and direct the District Gifted Program, • Manage the District registration, documentation, communication, and compliance tool to staff, students, and families., • Incorporates policies and procedures in accordance with laws and regulations., • Guides, directs, and participates in the discipline processes, including student suspensions and expulsions., • Conducts district-level disciplinary hearings., • Work with Franklin County Court’s Truancy Intervention/Prevention Program (TIPP), • Work with the Director of Diversity, Engagement & Human Capital in achieving positive change in academics, diversity, inclusion, and multiculturism., • Ensures that all practices in the district are legal and ethical for each student/family so that each child has the opportunity to achieve at a high level and be prepared for post-secondary success., • Coordinate processing and filing of Home Education records for the schools, • Manage the budget for Student Services programs, • Assist Superintendent to promote staff and community public relations, • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget, • Ensure on-going evaluation of student services implementation, • Remain current with education literature and best practices, • Stay actively involved within the community, • Represent the district in its dealings with other school districts, institutions and agencies, community organizations and the general public, • Maintain written records, e.g., employee personnel files, reports required by state regulation or Board policy, etc., • Attend work regularly and punctually, • Demonstrate a positive work ethic, • Work cooperatively with others in small groups, • Attend meetings as county representative or designee of superintendent, • Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships, • Provide support to principals and building teams in the implementation of the student services programs., • Serve as a positive representative of school curriculum interests to the community Other Duties & Responsibilities • Act as liaison between employees and the District Administration, • Serve as a role model for others in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible intelligent human beings, • Instill in others the belief and practice of ethical principles and democratic values, • Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner, • Keep the Superintendent informed in matters of student services programs, • Provide support to teachers and others where necessary to maintain a high-quality student services program, • Keep district student services practices and documents compliant with state and federal law, • Perform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent Qualifications: • Master’s degree in Education, Education Administration, or related field, • Appropriate state of Ohio certification/license; administrative certification/licensure by Ohio Department of Education preferred, • Thorough background and knowledge of all areas of responsibility, • Five or more years of administrative experience working directly with students, preferably at Central Office, • Valid driver’s license, • BCII/FBI clearance, • Experience and/or training which evidence a thorough knowledge of student services program, • Alternative to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Ability to work effectively with others, • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing, • Effective, active listening skills, • Organizational and problem-solving skills, • Knowledge of various academic areas and teaching methodologies, • Demonstrated knowledge of gifted curriculum development and evaluation, • Knowledge of school finance, • Ability to handle a multitude of tasks simultaneously and in a timely manner, • Ability to handle constant pressure and substantial amounts of stress, • Ability to supervise a variety of jobs and positions, • Strong visionary and leadership skills, • Successful experiences as a teacher and building administrator Additional Working Conditions: • Occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, • Occasional interaction among unruly children, • Occasional operation of a vehicle in inclement weather conditions, i.e., must be prepared to come to school on all scheduled workdays except calamity days, • Frequent regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, crouch, kneel, climb, and stoop, • Occasional overtime, weekend/evening work and summer work, • Occasional requirement to travel, • Occasional requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds, • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions, e.g., requirement to work outdoors during all types of weather, • Occasional exposure to loud noises, • Occasional requirement to physically restrain students as needed, • Repetitive hand motion, e.g., computer keyboard, typing, calculator, writing Terms of Employment: Per contract with the Groveport Madison Local Board of Education.
