Job Description Custom Software Systems, Inc. (CSS) is seeking a Data Platform Analyst to support the team with use case analysis, process analysis, knowledge management, process documentation, product documentation, user onboarding, product operations, and stakeholder coordination. This role will help translate business and mission needs into clear platform requirements, process documentation, capability gaps, decision records, and product planning inputs. The ideal candidate is organized, analytical, strong in written communication, and comfortable working across business, technical, data governance, and platform teams. This role will also support knowledge management for the platform by helping organize, maintain, and improve the availability of reusable documentation, decision records, process guidance, and other knowledge assets. This role is on-site. Responsibilities · Support analysis and documentation of business and mission use cases for the Enterprise Data Platform. · Conduct or support stakeholder discovery sessions to capture business needs, pain points, desired outcomes, assumptions, constraints, and dependencies. · Translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and product planning inputs. · Analyze and document current-state and future-state processes related to data intake, data access, data governance, platform usage, analytics workflows, and operational support. · Develop process maps, workflow diagrams, decision trees, RACI matrices, SOPs, and process guides as needed. · Identify process gaps, bottlenecks, unclear ownership, handoff issues, and opportunities for standardization or improvement. · Support the definition of repeatable platform processes, including intake, prioritization, data product onboarding, access requests, issue escalation, documentation management, and stakeholder communication. · Support the Platform Product Owner with backlog organization, intake tracking, prioritization inputs, dependency tracking, and action item follow-up. · Track platform requests, risks, issues, decisions, dependencies, open questions, and next steps. · Prepare and maintain product documentation, process documentation, capability descriptions, requirements documents, decision logs, meeting summaries, and knowledge articles. · Organize documentation so that platform teams and stakeholders can easily find current information. · Review existing documentation for clarity, consistency, completeness, and usability. · Convert technical input from engineers, architects, security, and governance teams into clear business-facing documentation. · Support preparation of roadmap discussions, sprint planning materials, stakeholder reviews, demos, governance forums, and leadership updates. · Assist with creating executive-ready summaries, briefing materials, product briefs, capability one-pagers, and stakeholder communications. · Support alignment between product priorities, business needs, technical delivery, governance requirements, and operational readiness. · Capture meeting notes, decisions, action items, risks, blockers, and follow-up items from platform-related meetings. · Coordinate with business, product, engineering, security, data governance, cloud infrastructure, analytics, and operational teams to support delivery execution. · Help identify common needs across use cases to inform reusable data platform capabilities. · Assist with defining and tracking product metrics, adoption indicators, service health measures, delivery progress, and operational improvement opportunities. · Maintain documentation inventories and identify outdated, missing, duplicative, or inconsistent content. · Organize and maintain platform knowledge repositories so that platform teams and stakeholders can easily find current, authoritative information. · Establish and support documentation and knowledge management practices, including content organization, naming conventions, documentation inventories, review cycles, and archival of outdated content. · Review existing documentation for clarity, consistency, completeness, accuracy, · findability, and usability. · Identify outdated, missing, duplicative, or inconsistent documentation and recommend updates, consolidation, or retirement. · Convert technical input from engineers, architects, security, and governance teams into clear business-facing documentation and reusable knowledge assets. · Prepare and maintain knowledge articles, FAQs, playbooks, reusable templates, process guides, decision logs, and other platform knowledge assets. · Track knowledge gaps and documentation needs that emerge from stakeholder discussions, product planning, delivery activities, and operational support. · Help identify common needs across use cases to inform reusable data platform capabilities, repeatable processes, and reusable knowledge assets. · Assist with defining and tracking documentation quality, knowledge management maturity, content freshness, and other operational improvement indicators. · Support miscellaneous knowledge management activities needed to advance Enterprise Data Platform priorities. · Support miscellaneous analysis, coordination, documentation, and product operations activities needed to advance Enterprise Data Platform priorities. · Identifies costs for existing IT systems (maintenance, operations, etc.). Identifies life cycle costs for proposed IT systems (development, operations, maintenance). · Identifies cost savings/cost avoidance associated with the retirement of the old system or improved performance of the new system. · Provides briefings on analyses conducted. Required Qualifications · Experience supporting business analysis, product analysis, process analysis, product operations, program support, or technology delivery activities. · Experience gathering, documenting, and synthesizing business needs, user needs, pain points, assumptions, constraints, and desired outcomes. · Experience documenting current-state and future-state business processes, workflows, handoffs, decision points, and operational procedures. · Ability to translate stakeholder needs into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and product planning inputs. · Strong written communication skills, including the ability to create clear documentation for mixed business and technical audiences. · Experience creating or maintaining requirements documents, process guides, SOPs, meeting summaries, decision logs, issue trackers, and stakeholder materials. · Ability to identify process gaps, bottlenecks, unclear ownership, handoff issues, and opportunities for standardization. · Ability to support discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops, and requirements gathering discussions. · Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, including the ability to track decisions, dependencies, risks, issues, action items, and open questions. · Comfort working with technical and non-technical stakeholders across product, engineering, security, data governance, infrastructure, analytics, and business teams. · Proficiency with collaboration, work management, and documentation tools such as Jira, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, wiki, or similar tools. · Ability to synthesize complex discussions into concise summaries, requirements, decision records, and action plans. · 5+ years of experience in business analysis, process analysis, product analysis, product operations, program analysis, or technology delivery support · Experience creating, organizing, maintaining, and improving knowledge management assets such as knowledge bases, documentation libraries, FAQs, process guides, decision logs, onboarding references, and reusable templates. · Ability to organize information into intuitive structures makes it easier for platform teams and stakeholders to find, understand, and reuse current information. · Experience supporting documentation lifecycle management, including content review, refresh, consolidation, and archival. · Demonstrated federal experience and comprehensive knowledge in adopting and implementing federal cybersecurity requirements, including but not limited to the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, OMB Memorandum M-22-09, NIST SP 800-53. Citizenship · US Citizenship & Green Card Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Preferred) · Experience supporting data platforms, analytics platforms, cloud platforms, enterprise systems, or internal technology products. · Experience working as a scrum master and/or scrum/agile certifications · Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, data access, data intake, analytics workflows, or data product concepts. · Familiarity with agile delivery practices, backlog management, user stories, acceptance criteria, sprint planning, and roadmap inputs. · Experience creating executive-ready summaries, product briefs, capability one-pagers, stakeholder updates, or briefing materials. · Experience with business process mapping, current-state/future-state analysis, RACI development, SOP development, or operational process improvement. · Experience supporting platform intake, prioritization, stakeholder engagement, or service delivery processes. · Experience working in a regulated, federal, financial, or security-conscious environment. · Experience working with cross-functional teams that include product owners, engineers, architects, data governance teams, security teams, infrastructure teams, data scientists, analysts, or researchers. · Ability to identify common patterns across stakeholder use cases and connect those patterns to reusable platform capabilities. · Experience improving findability, usability, consistency, and lifecycle management of documentation and knowledge assets. · Experience developing reusable templates, playbooks, FAQs, process guides, decision logs, or knowledge articles for enterprise technology teams. · Experience supporting knowledge management in a regulated, federal, financial, security-conscious, or enterprise technology environment. · Ability to identify common patterns across stakeholder use cases and translate them into reusable platform capabilities, repeatable processes, and reusable knowledge assets. Education · Bachelor’s A bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) (from an accredited institution) and three (3) years of experience, OR at least four (4) years in business analysis with three (3) of these years performing Business Cases and no degree requirement.
