American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care for a travel nursing job in Washington, District of Columbia. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 02/23/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in a hospital setting, • Caring for neonates from 23 weeks gestation to 4 months old, often post-labor and delivery, • Patient cases include extreme prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, congenital anomalies, and meconium aspiration, • Perform interventions such as noninvasive nasal CPAP, mechanical ventilation (including High Frequency Oscillation), and nitric oxide inhalation therapy, • Night shift schedule: 7p-7a, 3x12 hour shifts per week, • On-call coverage is required, • Must be able to manage ventilators, oscillators, pressors, micro preemies, and assist with bedside procedures, • Float and respond to neonatal emergencies and high-risk deliveries, • NICU nurses provide immediate assessment and care to newborns requiring close monitoring after delivery, • Nurses perform and assist with procedures such as IV insertion, septic workups, intubations, and percutaneous catheter insertions, • Administer blood products, medications, and provide parent education, • Diagnostic services and most procedures are performed at the bedside, • Holiday coverage may be required based on hospital needs, • Must reside at least 25 miles from the hospital to qualify as a traveler, • Scrub or dress code requirements will be provided upon assignment\n \n Requirements\n, • Active DC RN license required at the time of consideration, • Minimum 3 years of recent Level III NICU experience required, • Certifications required: BLS, NRP, STABLE (AHA only), and CPI, • Must have at least 2 years of prior work experience in a US hospital in the designated specialty, • Experience with ventilation management, high frequency oscillators, and micro preemies required, • Two manager or supervisor references preferred verifying recent NICU experience, • Must submit US Social Security number and valid Driver’s License for consideration\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
