Job Summary Reporting to the Installation Manager, the Apprentice/Journeyman Electrician under general supervision will maintain, repair, and install electrical systems, services, and equipment. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical fixtures and systems. Customer based activities require an individual possessing traits such as decisiveness, initiative, tact, judgement, integrity, dependability, and the ability to communicate in a technically credible manner. Daily job stress will run from minimal to extreme based on varying factors such as weather, site consideration, time constraints, sales potential, travel requirements, and customer needs. Responsibilities • Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints., • Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker panels, etc., • Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints., • Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment., • Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments., • Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit using rulers, measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threader, and conduit bender., • Receive and complete work orders., • Maintain accurate records on material and labor used., • Maintain inventory of company owned tools, equipment, and materials., • Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean., • Work with building master electrician, project managers, and service coordinator to complete projects., • Respond to emergency calls as needed., • Safety, • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures., • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition., • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc., • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately., • Arrive on time/early daily and work the required hours., • Purchase and supply the needed tools to perform the task you are being asked to complete., • Work with and under a Journeymen or Master Electrician., • Learning new skills and procedures to advance in the Apprenticeship. Job Qualifications: • Valid Michigan driver’s license., • Must sign up for the Electrical Apprenticeship Program the first fall semester after beginning employment - if an Electrical Apprentice., • If a Journeyman Electrician, must have a valid Michigan Electrician License., • Complete Seaman’s pre-employment testing., • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions., • Ability to perform mathematical calculations., • Ability to diagnose and resolve problems., • Ability to use hand and power tools., • Good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read and apply manufacturers’ installation instructions and to clearly communicate with residential and commercial customers, suppliers, and company personnel., • Interest and initiative in maintaining his/her electrical skills through a combination of self-study, corporate training, workshops, and other development activities. Physical Requirements • Lift 50 lbs. frequently, 100 lbs. occasionally, and 100+ lbs. with assistance, • Climbing (ladders, stairs, etc.) (frequently with tools or equipment in hand), • Bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting, • Extended periods of walking, • Regular exposure to weather conditions, • Operating a motor vehicle, Hi-low, forklifts, etc., • Owning and operating power or hand tools-from floor to above head (drilling often over your head and/or awkward positions), • Exposure to potentially harmful chemicals or materials with proper P.P.E’s Non-essential duties and responsibilities • Performs other duties as assigned by management
