Job Description Bookkeeper - Reports To: President Position Overview: The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for the company, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and practices, and providing essential support to the accounting department. This role includes managing day-to-day financial transactions, reconciling accounts, reporting hours to payroll processor, and assisting in financial reporting tasks. Key Responsibilities: 1. Record Financial Transactions: • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll., • Process invoices, payments, receipts, and deposits., • Ensure all financial data is entered correctly and on time into accounting software. 2. Bank Reconciliation: • Reconcile company bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts., • Investigate discrepancies and resolve any issues related to account balances. 3. Financial Reporting: • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow statements., • Provide detailed reports for management and help ensure accurate and timely reporting. 4. Payroll Processing: • Report employee hours to Payroll processor 5. Compliance and Tax: • Ensure the company complies with financial regulations and tax laws., • Prepare and file necessary tax documents (e.g., sales tax)., • Coordinate with external accountants or auditors for year-end reviews and audits. 6. Accounts Receivable/Payable Management: • Monitor outstanding customer invoices and follow up on overdue payments., • Review and process supplier invoices and payments. 7. Recordkeeping: • Maintain organized and accurate filing systems for all financial documentation., • Ensured records were stored in compliance with legal and company policies. 8. Additional Duties: • Assist with budgeting and forecasting as needed., • Responding to inquiries related to financial transactions and account balances., • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred. Experience: • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably in a similar industry., • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks or similar) is required. Skills: • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations., • Paying attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping., • Strong organizational and time management skills., • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and accounting software., • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
