Position Summary The Behavioral Health Prescriber/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (Prescriber) provides comprehensive psychiatric care, including diagnostic evaluation, psychopharmacological treatment, and medication management for individuals experiencing mental health conditions. This role is integrated within a multidisciplinary team and supports a whole-person approach to mental wellness. The Prescriber may provide services in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid format. The role is based in Washington state with licensure and prescriptive authority also required in Oregon. This position requires clinical independence in compliance with full practice authority regulations in both states and includes collaboration with The Villa Healths behavioral and medical providers to ensure continuity of care. Essential Functions • Perform psychiatric evaluations, mental status exams, and diagnostic assessments., • Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychotropic medications, including controlled substances (Schedules IIV)., • Develop and revise person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team., • Educate clients and families about diagnoses, treatment options, and medication effects., • Evaluate medication efficacy, adherence, and side effects; make appropriate adjustments as needed., • Order and interpret relevant labs and diagnostic tests., • Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)., • Consult and coordinate care with primary care, behavioral health, and specialty providers., • Participate in clinical meetings, case consultations, and organizational training., • Respond to urgent client needs, including supporting crisis response and safety planning., • Expertise in psychiatric diagnoses, psychopharmacology, and integrated behavioral health care., • Familiarity with DSM-5, best practices in psychiatric prescribing, and treatment planning., • Understanding of HIPAA, Washington and Oregon Nurse Practice Acts, and prescriptive regulations., • Ability to work with adult and/or adolescent populations based on clinical scope., • Comfort with telepsychiatry and hybrid care delivery., • Competency in documentation, billing practices, and EHR navigation., • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills., • Demonstrated ability to manage clinical risk and respond to urgent concerns., • Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and inclusive care., • Current and unrestricted PMHNP licensure (ARNP/APRN) in both Washington and Oregon., • National board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNPBC) through ANCC or AANP., • DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances (Schedules IIV)., • Oregon CSD registration and enrollment in WA and OR Prescription Drug Monitoring Programs (PDMPs)., • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (preferred)Minimum Qualifications, • Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a Psychiatric Mental Health specialization., • Licensure and prescriptive authority in both WA and OR at time of hire., • Experience conducting psychiatric assessments and prescribing psychotropic medications., • Proficiency in clinical documentation and EHR use., • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills., • Two or more years of experience in outpatient psychiatric care., • Demonstrated ability to serve clients across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults., • Training in trauma-informed care and culturally responsive practice., • Experience providing telepsychiatry or remote medication management., • This position follows a hybrid work model, with services delivered in-office, virtually, or remotely, based on clinical and organizational needs. On-camera participation is required for telehealth sessions and virtual meetings., • When working remotely, clinicians are expected to maintain a professional, private workspace that supports confidentiality and therapeutic engagement. Virtual workspaces must be:, • Free of visual clutter and personal items,, • Neutral and calming in appearance, and, • Designed to foster trust, focus, and a sense of ease for clients., • Reliable high-speed internet, secure access to clinical systems, and functioning video/audio technology are required.
