Job Description Position Summary We are seeking a reliable, hands-on Facilities Manager to oversee the maintenance, repair, and overall condition of multiple residential properties and surrounding grounds. This role is responsible for ensuring that all buildings, systems, and outdoor areas are safe, functional, and well-maintained year-round. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and comfortable performing a wide range of maintenance tasks while also coordinating vendors and supporting ongoing property needs. This individual must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and collaborate professionally with other household staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Key Responsibilities • Property Maintenance & Repairs, • Perform routine inspections of homes, buildings, and grounds to identify maintenance needs, • Complete general repairs including carpentry, painting, drywall, fixtures, and hardware, • Service, repair and maintain doors, cabinets, decks, lighting, and interior finishes, • Address minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical issues, • Maintain and repair outdoor structures, fencing, and equipment, • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and implement timely solutions, • Preventative Maintenance, • Conduct regular maintenance to prevent equipment failure and property damage, • Maintain lighting systems, HVAC equipment, and building systems, • Perform seasonal maintenance including power washing, sealing, and weather preparation, • Monitor drainage, roofing, and exterior systems, • Maintain crawl spaces and assist with pest prevention measures, • Grounds & Exterior Maintenance, • Maintain outdoor furniture, decks, porches, and exterior living spaces, • Seasonal setup and storage of outdoor equipment and furnishings, • Assist with removal of debris, branches, and general property clutter, • Support general grounds maintenance and exterior upkeep, • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly property environment, • Project & Vendor Coordination, • Coordinate and oversee contractors, service providers, and vendors as needed, • Assist with property improvement projects and installations, • Monitor project progress and ensure work is completed to standard, • Obtain measurements, materials, and supplies for maintenance or repair projects, • Communicate updates on repairs, timelines, and maintenance needs, • Team Collaboration & Communication, • Work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other household staff including but not limited to care keepers at out of Michigan locations and ground staff in Michigan, • Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize disruption to household routines, • Maintain a professional, respectful, and service-oriented approach at all times, • Provide regular updates on completed work and outstanding maintenance items, • Travel & Property Support, • Travel regularly between Michigan properties as part of routine responsibilities, • Occasional travel to out-of-town locations, • Maintain flexibility to support maintenance needs across multiple locations, • Conduct an annual visit to an out-of-state property to perform inspections, maintenance, and general repairs, • Occasionally assist with special projects or urgent maintenance needs at remote locations, • Seasonal & Operational Support, • Prepare properties for seasonal transitions and occupancy, • Assist with property cleanouts and organization projects, • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, • Maintain tools, equipment, and maintenance supplies, • Previous experience in facilities management, property maintenance, estate management, or a related field preferred, • Strong general maintenance skills (carpentry, basic plumbing, electrical, and repairs), • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues independently, • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with household staff and vendors, • Highly reliable, trustworthy, and detail-oriented, • Ability to maintain discretion and professionalism in a private household environment, • Experience operating hand and power tools safely, • Strong organizational and time management skills, • Valid driver’s license required, • Self-starter who takes initiative and anticipates property needs, • Strong sense of ownership and accountability, • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects, • Professional demeanor and positive attitude, • Full-time position working Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm, • Responsible for responding to occassional after hours or weekend emergencies, • Work performed across multiple private residential properties
