Job DescriptionJob Title: General Assembly TechnicianJob Description The General Assembly Technician performs mechanical assembly of custom-engineered electrical switchgear and panels in a high-volume production environment. This role focuses on fabricating metal frames and enclosures using hand and power tools, supporting general labor tasks, and contributing to the efficient flow of materials throughout a large, fast-paced manufacturing facility. Responsibilities • Perform general mechanical assembly of electrical switchgear and panels according to schematics, blueprints, and bills of materials., • Use hand tools and power tools to fabricate metal frames and enclosures for electrical equipment., • Measure and cut materials accurately using a tape measure and other basic measuring tools., • Install and assemble components and hardware in accordance with assembly instructions and quality standards., • Support installation and general labor tasks, including moving and positioning materials and equipment by hand., • Assist with troubleshooting basic assembly issues and make adjustments to ensure proper fit and function., • Follow established procedures for industrial and construction-style work, including tasks similar to roofing, landscaping, concrete, and road work., • Maintain a clean and organized work area within a busy production shop environment., • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe operation of tools., • Work extended hours as needed, typically 11-hour shifts, 5–6 days per week, and demonstrate reliability to work every day of the week when required., • Collaborate with general assemblers, electrical assemblers, warehouse staff, and other production personnel to meet production goals., • Demonstrate initiative by proactively identifying tasks, supporting team needs, and contributing to continuous improvement in assembly processes.Essential Skills, • At least 1 year of manual labor experience in industrial, construction, or similar environments., • Ability to work in hot, non-climate-controlled environments and remain productive in demanding conditions., • Proficiency in reading and using a tape measure accurately., • Experience using hand tools and power tools for mechanical assembly and fabrication., • Basic understanding of mechanical assembly processes for frames, enclosures, and panels., • Ability to follow schematics, blueprints, and bills of materials to complete assembly tasks., • Experience with general labor tasks such as construction labor, roofing, landscaping, concrete, or road work., • Capability to perform installation tasks and basic troubleshooting of assembly issues., • Strong work ethic with the ability to work long hours and extended shifts, typically 11 hours per day, 5–6 days per week., • Demonstrated initiative and reliability, including the ability to work every day of the week when required.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Industrial experience in a busy production or manufacturing environment., • Background in construction-related trades such as roofing, landscaping, concrete work, or road work, especially in extremely hot conditions., • Familiarity with assembly in large-scale facilities and fast-paced shops., • Comfort working around other specialized operations such as weld shops, machine shops, and powder coating shops., • Ability to collaborate effectively with general assemblers, electrical assemblers, and warehouse teams., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality in mechanical assembly work.Why Work Here? Work Environment The role is based in a large, approximately 600,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Pasadena, Texas. The facility is new, clean, and well organized, with open bay doors and numerous fans providing airflow in a non-climate-controlled environment. The production shop is very busy and fast paced, primarily housing general assemblers, electrical assemblers, warehouse operations, and related production activities. Other nearby locations include specialized shops for welding, machining, and powder coating, contributing to a comprehensive industrial operation. The position follows a shift-based schedule: Night Shift typically runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., and Day Shift for reference runs Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with employees generally working 11-hour days, 5–6 days per week. The dress code requires steel-toe footwear, jeans, a work shirt, and safety glasses, reflecting the emphasis on safety and readiness for hands-on industrial work. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pasadena, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
