Enhance Catering are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Chef de Partie to join a busy catering operation based in Harpenden. This is an excellent opportunity for a talented chef looking for a fantastic work-life balance, working predominantly Monday to Friday while supporting a high-quality restaurant, conference and hospitality service. The successful candidate will support the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchen, delivering fresh, high-quality food whilst maintaining exceptional standards of food safety, hygiene and customer service. This is a hands-on role that also involves supervising junior team members, assisting with menu development and helping to ensure the kitchen operates efficiently and commercially. Location: Harpenden Salary: Up to £30,000 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday, 7:00am 3:00pm (occasional evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required) Contract: Permanent Key Responsibilities Food Preparation & Service Prepare and deliver high-quality food for the restaurant, hospitality and event operations. Ensure dishes are consistently prepared and presented to the highest standards. Support menu planning and seasonal menu development. Maintain excellent food quality, consistency and portion control. Ensure kitchen stations are fully prepared and organised before service. Monitor food quality throughout service. Kitchen Operations Support the Head Chef in the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen. Supervise food preparation and assist with coordinating kitchen operations. Ensure food storage complies with food safety legislation. Maintain excellent cleanliness and organisation throughout the kitchen. Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and used safely. Stock Control & Cost Management Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food and kitchen supplies. Complete stock takes and maintain accurate records. Minimise food waste through effective stock rotation and portion control. Assist in achieving departmental gross profit and food cost targets. Identify cost-saving opportunities whilst maintaining food quality. Leadership & Teamwork Support and mentor junior chefs and kitchen assistants. Assist with the induction and training of new team members. Promote a positive, respectful and collaborative working environment. Work closely with Front of House teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Compliance & Food Safety Ensure full compliance with: Food Hygiene Regulations HACCP Health & Safety legislation COSHH Environmental Health requirements Maintain the highest food hygiene standards. Follow all company policies and procedures. Person Specification Essential Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or in a similar role. Excellent knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients and kitchen operations. Level 3 Food Safety & Hygiene Certificate. Good understanding of HACCP and Environmental Health requirements. Experience managing food costs, stock control and waste reduction. Ability to remain calm under pressure. Excellent organisational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Passion for delivering exceptional food and customer service. Ability to work effectively within a team. Flexible approach to working hours when required. Desirable NVQ Level 2 or equivalent Professional Cookery qualification. Supervisory or team leadership experience. Experience using EPOS or kitchen management software. Full UK Driving Licence.
