Our commitment to excellence in creative arts education sets us apart, providing students with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities they need to succeed in their chosen fields.\n\nAbout the Role\n\n As Technical Services Coordinator, you will lead the day-to-day delivery of technical support within the music faculty, ensuring studios, rehearsal spaces and specialist equipment are ready to support teaching, learning and creative practice.\n\nYou’ll coordinate technical activity across the faculty, while providing hands-on support and guidance to students and staff. Acting as the main point of contact for technical services, you’ll work closely with academic colleagues, Technicians and campus teams to keep facilities running effectively and safely.\n\nWhat You’ll Do:\n\nCoordinate the day-to-day delivery of technical services, ensuring studios, rehearsal spaces and equipment are prepared and fully operational.\nProvide hands-on technical support to students through demonstrations, workshops and structured sessions.\nOffer guidance to staff and students on the safe and effective use of specialist equipment and facilities.\nWork with academic staff to plan and deliver appropriate technical support for teaching sessions and projects.\nLine manage and support a team of Technicians, including allocating work, managing rotas and supporting day-to-day activity.\nAct as a first point of contact for technical queries, resolving issues or escalating where needed.\nOversee the setup, maintenance and availability of technical equipment, ensuring it meets operational standards.\nCoordinate routine checks, basic maintenance and repairs, working with external contractors where required.\nMaintain accurate records of equipment, usage, maintenance activity and asset tracking (e.g. via RefTab or similar systems).\nSupport health and safety activity within technical spaces, including inductions, risk assessments and incident reporting.\nPromote safe working practices and challenge unsafe behaviour where necessary.\nWork collaboratively with campus teams, contributing to wider operational support and continuous improvement activities.\n\nWhat You’ll Bring:\n\nSignificant practical experience within a technical, music or creative environment.\nExperience coordinating technical support, facilities or resources within an educational, creative or production setting.\nExperience supervising or guiding colleagues on a day-to-day basis.\nThe ability to plan, prioritise and organise activity in a busy, practical environment.\nClear and effective communication skills, with the ability to support and advise staff and students.\nThe ability to build effective working relationships across academic, technical and operational teams.\nA practical, problem-solving approach and sound judgement in day-to-day situations.\nGood digital skills, including experience using equipment booking, tracking or asset management systems (e.g. RefTab).\nA full UK Driving licence would be beneficial (but not essential).\n\nWorking Pattern\n\nThis is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a rotating shift basis, helping us provide consistent support across the day.\n\nYou’ll work a mix of the following shifts:\n\nEarly: 08:00am – 4:30pm\nLate: 12:30pm – 8:00pm \n\nThere may be a requirement for occasional Saturday working on a rota basis, depending on teaching and events.\n\nWhy BIMM University\n\nWe are a values-led organisation, meaning our core values underpin all that we do:\n\nBelieve in Everyone, Challenge the Norm, Grow Together, Do The Right Thing, Own It.\n\nIn addition to joining a committed and dedicated team, you will have access to:\n\n25 days holiday per year (FTE)\nSMART pension\nA comprehensive benefits package\n\nWe continually strive to create a culture of inclusivity so that we truly represent our diverse communities.
