This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a safety-driven environment, enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, and wants to make a real impact on essential infrastructure.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nAs Electrical Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership, assurance, and governance across a wide range of electrical activities. You will act as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) and NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS), ensuring compliance with regulations, safety rules, and engineering best practice. The role involves overseeing electrical design, installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities across wastewater treatment works and pumping stations.\n\nThis position offers a blend of office-based responsibilities and regular site visits, with opportunities to support major projects from design through to commissioning.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nCompliance & Electrical Assurance\n\n * Ensure electrical installations meet internal standards, safety rules, and statutory regulations (including BS 7671).\n\n * Conduct site inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.\n\n * Identify, report, and resolve non-conformances and improvement actions.\n\nSenior Authorised Person (SAP)\n\nAct as SAP for LV systems in line with company electrical safety rules.\n\nPrepare, issue, and manage permits to work.\n\nConduct or supervise isolations, switching, and energisation.\n\nMaintain authorisation registers and safety documentation.\n\nProvide electrical safety leadership to operational teams.\n\nRisk & Safety Management\n\nProduce and review RAMS.\n\nImplement safe systems of work, including isolation and lock-out/tag-out.\n\nEnsure full compliance with health & safety legislation and internal HSQE policies.\n\nNICEIC Qualified Supervisor Duties\n\nAct as the organisation’s NICEIC QS.\n\nVerify compliance with BS 7671 across all works.\n\nReview and sign off certification, including EICs, Minor Works, and inspection/testing reports.\n\nLead audit preparation and liaise with NICEIC assessors.\n\nElectrical Design & Engineering\n\nReview electrical designs, drawings, and specifications.\n\nCarry out and check design calculations (cable sizing, voltage drop, protection, fault levels).\n\nProduce and update schematics and single-line diagrams.\n\nSupport value engineering, technical change control, and cross-discipline coordination.\n\nCommissioning & Operational Support\n\nPlan and oversee commissioning of electrical installations.\n\nSupport testing, pre-commissioning, and energisation.\n\nProvide technical assistance for troubleshooting and optimisation.\n\nWork with Project Managers and field teams across project lifecycles.\n\nDocumentation & Governance\n\nManage electrical documentation, drawing registers, and revision control.\n\nMaintain accurate as-built and commissioning records.\n\nPrepare documentation packs for audits and regulatory reviews.\n\nStakeholder Engagement\n\nProvide expert technical support to project and operational teams.\n\nLiaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulators.\n\nPromote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.\n\nPerson Attributes\n\nWe’re looking for someone who is:\n\n * Safety-driven with a strong commitment to safe systems of work.\n\n * A confident leader who demonstrates accountability and clear communication.\n\n * Highly detail-oriented, methodical, and organised.\n\n * Skilled in analytical thinking and electrical problem-solving.\n\n * A strong team player with a collaborative and mentoring mindset.\n\n * Adaptable, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.\n\n * Driven by professional integrity, particularly in safety-critical decision-making.\n\nExperience Required\n\n * 5+ years’ experience in the water industry or similar process-driven engineering environment.\n\n * Proven experience working at SAP level on LV systems.\n\n * Strong background in electrical design, inspection, testing, and commissioning.\n\nEssential Qualifications\n\n * Recognised Senior Authorised Person (SAP) competence (LV).\n\n * NVQ Level 3 Electrotechnical (2356-31) and AM2.\n\n * NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) status or eligibility.\n\n * 18th Edition (BS 7671).\n\n * City & Guilds 2391 (or equivalent) Inspection & Testing.\n\n * Demonstrable capability in electrical design calculations.\n\n * ECS/CSCS card or equivalent.\n\n * Full UK Driving Licence.\n\nDesirable Qualifications\n\n * HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.\n\n * Professional membership (e.g., IET), working toward IEng/CEng.\n\n * LV/HV switching authorisation.\n\n * IOSH/NEBOSH H&S training.\n\n * HV, power distribution, ATEX/DSEAR awareness, or functional safety knowledge.\n\n * Experience with ISO management systems.\n\n * CAD/design software experience (AutoCAD, EPLAN).\n\n * SMSTS/SSSTS or similar site management training.\n\nAdditional Information\n\nRegular travel to operational sites is required.\n\nOut-of-hours work may be needed for emergencies, shutdowns, and commissioning.\n\nOngoing professional development is supported, including SAP and QS competencies.\n\nThe role involves mentoring junior engineers and electricians
