Associate – Public Markets (Asset Allocation) - role to support the Head of Public Markets Location: Dubai, UAE Relocation: Full international relocation support provided Candidate Profile Essential • 3–5 years’ experience in public markets investing, asset allocation, portfolio analytics, or multi-asset research (e.g. asset manager, OCIO, pension fund, sovereign fund, or family office)., • Strong grounding in multi-asset portfolio construction and asset allocation principles., • Demonstrated experience supporting or contributing to allocation, portfolio, or risk decisions., • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including Python (or R), Excel, and market data platforms (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv)., • Ability to translate complex analysis into clear, decision-oriented insights., • High intellectual curiosity, strong ownership mindset, and attention to detail. Role Overview A leading Tier-1 global investment fund is seeking an Associate – Public Markets to support the design, analysis, and ongoing development of its public markets asset allocation and portfolio construction framework across global equities, fixed income, commodities, and liquid alternatives. This role is intended for a high-calibre early-career investment professional (typically 3–5 years’ experience) with strong quantitative and analytical skills, who is on a clear trajectory toward a senior asset allocator role. The Associate will work closely with senior investment leadership and gain exposure to strategic decision-making, governance processes, and real capital allocation. Key Responsibilities Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) • Contribute to the development and periodic review of capital market assumptions, including expected returns, volatilities, correlations, and downside risk measures., • Support and increasingly lead strategic asset allocation studies using optimisation, scenario analysis, and stress testing., • Translate long-term investment beliefs and portfolio constraints into quantitative portfolio construction inputs and benchmarks., • Prepare clear, decision-ready materials for senior investment and governance forums. Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA) & Macro Research • Support the development and maintenance of tactical allocation frameworks across equities, rates, credit, FX, and commodities., • Produce regular macro and market analysis, including base, upside, and downside scenarios., • Assist with back-testing, evaluation, and refinement of tactical signals., • Help translate tactical views into implementable portfolio tilts using ETFs, derivatives, or manager-level adjustments. Portfolio Construction & Risk Analytics • Support the use and enhancement of multi-asset portfolio construction tools (e.g. mean-variance, factor-based, and scenario-aware approaches)., • Conduct risk decomposition and performance attribution across asset classes, factors, and managers., • Identify unintended exposures, concentration risks, and portfolio inefficiencies., • Contribute to the integration of liquid alternatives within public markets portfolios. Implementation & Rebalancing • Support portfolio rebalancing analysis, including thresholds, frequency, and transaction cost considerations., • Assist in monitoring implementation across external managers, ETFs, and mandates., • Track and analyse differences between model portfolios and implemented portfolios, highlighting sources of tracking error. Data, Models & Tools • Build, maintain, and enhance analytics tools and dashboards for asset allocation, risk, and performance monitoring., • Automate recurring analytics and reporting using Python, SQL, and Excel/VBA., • Document methodologies and support model validation and sensitivity analysis. Governance & Stakeholder Support • Prepare high-quality analytics and presentation materials for senior investment stakeholders and committees., • Support the drafting and maintenance of investment policies, benchmarks, and portfolio guidelines., • Collaborate with risk, legal, compliance, and technology teams to ensure analytical robustness and consistency.
