Job Description POSITION: Marketing Manager DEPARTMENT: Pittsburgh Playhouse REPORTS TO: Director, Marketing & Communications, COPA WORK SCHEDULE: Remote work flexibility (Hybrid) PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Marketing Manager leads Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University's brand, voice, and reputation through strategic marketing, communications, public relations, surveying, Playbill creation and Ad sales, distribution of news, announcements, social media posts, as well as developing and executing strategy to increase ticket sales and audience engagement for Pittsburgh Playhouse's portfolio of venues. This role will be responsible for recruiting, engaging and performance management of a team who are responsible for marketing, PR and communications, social media, digital media, audience services, accessibility and events of the Pittsburgh Playhouse at Point Park University. This individual will coordinate efforts across all marketing functions and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, throughout the entire life cycle of a campaign to achieve goals that align with Point Park University and the Pittsburgh Playhouse. The Pittsburgh Playhouse Marketing Manager will collaborate with senior leaders internally and externally to promote the presentations and productions of Pittsburgh Playhouse in the most effective way possible, including maintaining a comprehensive press and digital advertising strategy while strengthening the institution's brand strategy. This role will lead all facets of the marketing activities to ensure proper alignment with the goals of Point Park University; working in partnership with Conservatory of Performing Arts, Point Park University's Marketing Team, the Office of Alumni Engagement and Giving as well as the University's Enrollment and Admission Teams; helping to create and prudently manage the yearly budget; ensure proper financial management and to ensure the marketing strategy and assets are aligned with the organization's creative vision. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller and strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This role will oversee and mentor students, helping to support COPA enrollment goals by leveraging the Pittsburgh Playhouse as a "living laboratory" for experiential learning and recruitment storytelling. This person will be a seasoned self-starter with the ability to build processes from the ground up and a strong understanding of how to engage audiences and grow loyalty. QUALIFICATIONS: • 5+ years of experience or demonstrated work in theatre marketing, communications, project management, copyediting, and/or a related field., • Experience with arts organization or a demonstrated passion or affinity for the arts and higher education., • Experience collaborating with multiple colleagues, vendors, Resident partners, and Visiting Companies., • Experience developing and managing budgets and hiring, training, developing, and supervising personnel., • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining focus on organizational goals., • Strong leadership skills; excellent analytical skills; the ability to collaborate effectively with others; and the ability to build and motivate employees., • Demonstrated experience in collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data., • Excellent interpersonal skills., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills., • Experience with fundraising and/or ticketing databases., • A bachelor's degree and a background in marketing, public relations, and/or organizational management. Fundraising experience desired but not required., • At least three years of experience in marketing, • Demonstrated experience in project management., • The best practices and techniques appropriate for arts organizations., • Understand the principles of patron loyalty in a seated events business environment., • Demonstrated experience in strategic and internal communication., • Knowledge of business and financial management., • Experience in staff, volunteer, and vendor management., • Computer literacy, advanced MS Office skills, email platforms, and the Adobe Creative Suite., • Experience with Tessitura and/or other CRM software is highly preferred. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Lead implementation of advertising campaigns and initiatives including content strategy, digital advertising, paid media, social media, CRM, direct mail, and promotions, design, map, and finalize the overall Pittsburgh Playhouse advertisement., • Manage implementation of email campaigns for both internal and external partners showcased at Pittsburgh Playhouse including, sales strategy, design, implementation, and scheduling of emails., • Manage all marketing timelines and projects with vendors and/or contracted services once the full-season plan has been established., • Manage communication and timelines with artistic show management, compiling and organizing assets and approved program copy, bios, images, and other marketing materials in advance of each show at the Pittsburgh Playhouse., • Review and approve marketing materials for Resident or Visiting Companies, adhering to Pittsburgh Playhouse and Point Park University's branding and style guides., • Manage ticketing promotions, including creating strategy and offer promo code for setup in Tessitura, reporting and tracking the success of audience segmentation across campaigns., • Supervise Marketing Assistant, Graphic Designer, Box Office Manager and Front of House Manager., • Oversee, mentor, and coach student employees and interns, providing experiential learning opportunities that align with COPA training and support enrollment objectives through performance- and production-based recruitment storytelling., • Manage program marketing budgets, forecasting, ticket sales set up in collaboration with box office, ticketing strategy, discounts/comps, and on sale launch to patrons., • Project manage the execution of all print collateral, including direct mail, program books, and institutional print pieces., • Closely collaborate with external key stakeholders for touring theater productions, • Closely collaborate with internal key stakeholders to deliver special projects and revenue generation initiatives., • Attend or be onsite for performances/events as required and assigned by Director of Marketing and Communication and/or Executive Producer, Pittsburgh Playhouse., • Participate in organizational and regular team meetings, share ideas, and communicate openly with peers and your supervisor about questions, challenges, and successes., • Maintain professional conduct and represent the Theater positively in all interactions with artists, renters, partner organizations, donors, vendors, volunteers, and patrons., • Serve as backup for Director of Marketing & Communications when they are taking PTO or when there are gaps in coverage., • Other duties as assigned DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Strategic:, • Develop marketing plan and support the creation of the development plan with the Director, Marketing & Communications, COPA & Pittsburgh Playhouse., • Work with the marketing and sales teams to own the creative development and execution of strategic sales proposals across multiple brand categories and product offerings (custom content, events, social, print, etc.), • Serve as the primary contact for Resident Companies and Visiting Companies' marketing needs, including the collection of assets ahead of each company's public on sale., • Operations:, • Implement marketing plans including updating websites and social media platforms., • Manage partnership deliverables (i.e. branding, signage, media, print, promotional, entertainment elements, etc.) to ensure quality standards and that partner expectations are met., • Support implementation of the development plan with the managing director., • Internal and external communications, • Mentor students, • Resource Management:, • Marketing Manager ensures marketing plans align with key stakeholders to craft strategy and messaging, and drive patron engagement, satisfaction, and loyalty within budget constraints., • Effectively monitor all Pittsburgh Playhouse revenue dashboards and reports.
