Job Description JOB SUMMARY: The Multi-Axis CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating multiple CNC machines (3, 4, or 5-axis) as well as various manual machines to manufacture, assemble, and repair precision parts. The role requires strong technical expertise in machining practices, materials, and tooling, as well as the ability to interpret complex documentation and maintain high-quality standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: • Set up, edit programs, and operate multiple CNC machines simultaneously with minimal guidance, including 3, 4, and 5-axis machines with various controller combinations., • Operate manual machines including vertical/horizontal mills, manual lathes, grinders, jig bores, and drill presses., • Deburr, scuff, blend, and polish fabricated parts using hand and power tools in preparation for plating, painting, or finishing operations., • Select abrasives and polishing tools based on material type, desired finish, and amount of metal removal., • Assemble and repair parts, mechanisms, sub-assemblies, and machines, applying advanced knowledge of machining practices, mechanics, shop mathematics, and material properties., • Interpret blueprints, sketches, specifications, NC programs, and detailed routings; follow written or oral instructions accurately., • Inspect parts for conformity to specifications using calibrated measuring instruments and ensure close tolerances and fine micro finishes are maintained., • Design and fabricate complex holding fixtures when required to aid manufacturing processes., • Apply knowledge of various materials including ferrous, non-ferrous, plastics, fiber, and rubber materials, and determine correct speeds, feeds, and tooling for machining., • Maintain compliance with all safety guidelines and wear appropriate PPE provided by the company., • High School Diploma or GED., • Minimum 5 years of machining experience, including at least 3 years on multi-axis CNC machines with programming and editing experience (conversational and G-code)., • Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and process routings., • Strong knowledge of machinability of metals, plastics, and composite materials., • Experience with deburring, blending, scuffing, masking, and finishing techniques., • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Confidential Security Clearance (if required)., • Advanced fixture design and fabrication skills., • Experience with high-precision and close-tolerance machining., • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities., • Team collaboration and leadership experience in manufacturing environments.
