Job Description Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk / Shipping & Receiving Technician Job Description This role supports warehouse logistics, material handling, and chemical receiving operations at a chemical manufacturing facility. You coordinate inbound and outbound shipments, receive raw materials, manage inventory transactions in SAP or a similar ERP system, and handle both hazardous and non-hazardous materials in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. You work closely with production, logistics, and warehouse teams to ensure accurate, timely, and safe movement of materials throughout the site. Responsibilities • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments of finished products, raw materials, drums, totes, pallets, and bulk materials., • Prepare and generate Bills of Lading, packing lists, shipping labels, manifests, and other required transportation documentation., • Coordinate shipments with freight carriers and third-party warehouses to ensure on-time delivery and pickup., • Verify shipment accuracy, including quantities, product identification, and documentation, and maintain accurate records within SAP or the ERP system., • Prepare materials for shipment in accordance with DOT regulations and internal company standards., • Receive raw materials, chemicals, packaging materials, and finished goods, ensuring proper documentation and traceability., • Inspect incoming materials for quantity, quality, damage, and documentation accuracy, and report discrepancies promptly., • Handle and store materials in accordance with safety procedures, chemical compatibility requirements, and environmental regulations., • Support bulk liquid unloading from tank trucks into storage tanks using pumps, transfer systems, and established procedures., • Assist with hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and disposal processes in compliance with regulatory and company requirements., • Perform inventory transactions, including goods receipts, inventory adjustments, and shipment confirmations, within SAP or the ERP system., • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and material tracking., • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently., • Ensure warehouse organization, cleanliness, and adherence to 5S practices, including proper labeling and storage of materials., • Support production operations by moving materials, handling drums and totes, and staging raw materials and packaging for manufacturing., • Follow OSHA, DOT, EPA, GHS, and site-specific safety procedures at all times., • Participate in hazardous waste inspections, safety meetings, and ongoing safety training programs., • Use appropriate personal protective equipment when handling chemicals and industrial materials., • Maintain accurate documentation and compliance records related to shipping, receiving, inventory, and safety activities., • Contribute to a strong safety culture by identifying hazards, reporting incidents or near-misses, and supporting continuous improvement in safety and operational practices. Essential Skills • Minimum 5 years of shipping and receiving experience in an industrial setting., • Experience working in chemical manufacturing, chemical distribution, or a related industrial environment., • Proficiency with SAP or another ERP system for inventory transactions, goods receipts, and shipment confirmations., • Experience generating Bills of Lading and other shipping documentation., • Bulk unloading experience with liquid raw materials, including receiving tanker trucks and transferring materials into storage tanks using pumps or pressure systems., • Hands-on forklift experience and ability to operate material handling equipment safely., • Strong understanding of hazardous materials handling, chemical safety procedures, and related regulatory requirements., • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced industrial environment., • Attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, inventory records, and shipment verification., • Comfort working around chemical processing operations, storage tanks, tanker truck deliveries, and industrial warehouse activities. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Current or recent 49 CFR Hazardous Materials certification obtained within the last 3 years., • HazMat or DOT shipping certification., • Experience with hazardous waste handling and related documentation., • Prior leadership or lead warehouse experience, with the potential to grow into a leadership role., • Experience supporting third-party warehouse logistics and coordination., • Background in chemical manufacturing environments for specialty or industrial materials., • Associate degree or technical training in logistics, supply chain, operations, or a related field., • Familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement practices in warehouse and logistics operations. Work Environment The role is based in a highly industrial chemical manufacturing environment that includes chemical processing operations, storage tanks, tanker truck deliveries, packaging systems, bulk liquid transfer equipment, forklifts, drums, totes, and active warehouse operations. You work both indoors and outdoors and regularly load and unload tanker trucks, transfer liquid raw materials into storage systems, and handle drums, totes, pallets, and bulk chemical materials. You operate forklifts and other material handling equipment around active manufacturing and chemical processing equipment. You wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, gloves, hard hats, and additional protective gear as needed. You may be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and typical industrial operating conditions. The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for extended periods, and frequent walking throughout the manufacturing and warehouse facility during a first-shift, Monday–Friday schedule. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC 28203. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.70 - $23.70/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
