Description Leidos is looking for a Law Clerk to join our Washington, DC team. Primary Responsibilities: * Works under the direction of Supervisory Paralegal or Project Supervisor. * Performs simple to moderately complex legal research for the trial staff. * Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc. reviewing documents for relevance and privilege; and assisting attorneys with all phases of litigation. * Perform Bluebooking and cite checking of briefs. * Ability to conduct research in applicable statutory, regulatory, and case law. * Demonstrated ability to discern the relevant issues in complex fact patterns. Basic Qualifications: * Requires Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study or, six (6) years of legal training or experience may be substituted. . * Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources. * Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw. * Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging. * Role also requires hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources. * Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important. * Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience with Bluebooking, Cite checking, creating Tables of Contents/Authorities is strongly preferred. * Experience with e-discovery tools including Relativity, valued. * Proficiency with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat is essential. * Strong analytic, organizational, legal research and writing skills are preferred. * Experience evaluating financial and debt records, valued. * Trial support experience helpful.
