Classification: Full-Time Shift: Various – must be available to weekdays, weekends, and holidays. Pay Rate: The pay rate for this role is $26.50 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location. Union Position: This position is part of the Local 1 Union which requires complete open availability. We are not able to accommodate schedule restrictions and full-time hours are not guaranteed. Hours and schedule are based on seniority and business needs. JOB SUMMARY As a Housekeeper, you would be responsible for cleaning guest rooms and responding to guest requests in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: • Clean guest rooms as assigned, including, but not limited to, replacing soiled linen and terry with clean items, making beds, cleaning bathrooms (e.g. tub/shower, toilet, floor, sink, mirror), and removing trash, dirty linen and room service items, • Check that all appliances are present in the room and in working order (e.g. hair dryer, television, lamps, refrigerator), • Straighten desk items, furniture and appliances and restore to original positions, • Dust, polish, remove marks from walls and furnishings (e.g. appliances, furniture, ice bucket, refrigerator, baseboards, window ledges, entrance door), • Vacuum carpets and perform floor care duties (e.g. in guest rooms and hallway), • Replenish guest amenities (e.g. toiletries, glasses, linens, towels, tissues, coffee, printed materials, and laundry bags according to Westin Brand Standard), • Perform deep cleaning tasks or any other reasonable job duty, as needed, • Stock, maintain and transport housekeeping supply cart on a daily basis and return cart to designated area at the end of shift, • Dispose of trash and recyclables, • Respond to special guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner, • Report missing hotel property and damages to guestroom to supervisor/manager, • Limit access to guest rooms while cleaning by following departmental procedures, • Enter guest rooms following procedures for gaining access, such as knocking three times, saying “Housekeeping” and ensuring vacancy before entering, • Report room status (e.g. Do Not Disturb, discrepant rooms) to Housekeeping Coordinator, • Select appropriate cleaning chemicals and necessary personal protective equipment for various surfaces and cleaning jobs, following OSHA regulations and hotel policies., • Identify and report preventative and other maintenance issues in public areas and guest rooms. Requirements: SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace for written and verbal instructions., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, • Ability to work independently and part of a team, • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written., • Must possess basic computational ability., • Must be able to speak to guests and co-workers using clear, appropriate and professional language, • Requires grasping, talking, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, twisting, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity., • Move, lift, carry and place objects weighing less than or equal to 25 pounds without assistance and in excess of 25 pounds with assistance., • Ability to push and pull a loaded housekeeping cart, • High school diploma or equivalent preferred., • Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred but not required., • Ability to operate housekeeping tools and equipment (e.g., carts, vacuums, buffers—if applicable). This company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Holidays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determines the amount of hours that you work.
