For over 46 years, Horizon has been at the forefront of providing high-quality care and education, significantly shaping the lives of children. Horizon offers programs for children 6 weeks to 14 years of age. This enduring legacy, established in memory of our founder Mary M. Smith, continues to inspire and guide our commitment to excellence. Our Mission: to provide high-quality early childhood education, care and youth development programs. Horizon Education Centers originated from the vision of Mary Smith, a mother of four in suburban North Olmsted, Ohio. Concerned by the number of "latch-key kids" returning to empty homes after school, Mary established Horizon Afterschool Center in 1978. Housed in the historic North Olmsted Unitarian Church, the program offered affordable after-school classes in various subjects, including theater, cooking, sewing, nature studies, and art. Instructors, including college students, artists, and teachers, volunteered their expertise.Whether you're an experienced educator or new to childcare, we offer opportunities for professional growth and personal fulfillment, all while making a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners.\r\n\r\nFor over 46 years, Horizon has been at the forefront of providing high-quality care and education, significantly shaping the lives of children.
