Job DescriptionPosition Title Piano Instructor (Part-Time, Variable Schedule; W-2 Employee) StevensED LLC — StevensED Piano Studio / Office of the Bursar Position Summary StevensED LLC seeks a Piano Instructor to provide private piano instruction within an orderly, disciplined, and carefully guided studio environment. This appointment supports the institution's commitment to classical formation, serious study, and the steady cultivation of musical literacy, technical command, and refined artistic judgment. Instruction is delivered according to StevensED's curriculum and studio standards so that families receive a consistent and principled educational experience. This is a W-2, part-time role with a variable schedule determined by student enrollment and institutional need. StevensED does not guarantee any minimum number of students, lessons, or hours. Lesson assignments and weekly teaching load may fluctuate by season, term, and family availability. Duties and Responsibilities • Provide high-quality private piano instruction to StevensED students in accordance with StevensED's curriculum sequence, pedagogical standards, and studio policies., • Establish and maintain clear expectations for practice, preparation, and progress, fostering habits of consistency, integrity, and personal accountability appropriate to the student's age and maturity., • Assign weekly practice material and goals consistent with StevensED's curriculum, including technique, sight-reading, ear training as applicable, theory integration, and repertoire development., • Maintain instructional records as required by StevensED, including lesson notes, repertoire tracking, and progress documentation to support continuity, evaluation, and institutional oversight., • Communicate with families in a professional, measured, and courteous manner through StevensED's approved channels, reflecting the institution's commitment to clarity, respect, and proper boundaries., • Observe and implement StevensED attendance, cancellation, and make-up policies, and cooperate with administrative procedures designed to protect instructional continuity and reserved studio capacity., • Participate in periodic training, review, and quality assurance as directed by StevensED, including alignment on curriculum delivery, student benchmarks, and instructional consistency. This position is scheduled according to student demand and operational needs. StevensED assigns students and coordinates scheduling standards. The teaching load may vary, and StevensED reserves discretion to reassign students, consolidate schedules, or adjust lesson times to meet institutional requirements and family needs. RequirementsMinimum Qualifications • Demonstrated piano proficiency sufficient to teach beginning through intermediate students, with secure reading ability, foundational technique, and familiarity with standard pedagogical repertoire., • Demonstrated capacity to teach within a defined curriculum and to uphold consistent institutional standards rather than an ad hoc or purely improvisational approach., • Professional reliability, including punctuality, preparedness, appropriate decorum, and timely communication., • Ability to teach minors and work with families within a structured educational environment, including adherence to institutional policies and expectations., • Collegiate study in piano performance, pedagogy, music education, or a closely related discipline., • Experience implementing structured lesson progressions integrating technique, sight-reading, and theory, with measurable outcomes over time., • Experience preparing students for evaluations, adjudications, juries, or examinations consistent with a standards-based studio model., • Instructors must uphold StevensED's curriculum requirements, documentation standards, and studio operational policies., • Instructors must protect StevensED confidential information, including student lists, contact information, scheduling information, tuition status, and internal instructional records., • Resume or curriculum vitae detailing musical training and teaching experience., • Brief statement describing teaching experience and the applicant's willingness to teach within a structured curriculum and standards-based studio model., • Optional materials upon request: references, repertoire list, or a short teaching demonstration. BenefitsCompensation Compensation is paid as W-2 wages in accordance with StevensED's published pay schedule for this position. Wages may be structured per delivered lesson and may include performance incentives tied to instructional consistency, policy compliance, documentation timeliness, and student retention, as determined by StevensED.
