Job DescriptionJob Title: Manufacturing Engineer Job Description The Manufacturing Engineer supports new and existing manufacturing processes as a key technical resource across production, quality, and design engineering. This hands-on, production-facing role focuses on assembly processes, machining support, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement. The position was created to support increasing production demands and to act as a strong technical bridge between the manufacturing floor and design engineering teams, including daily collaboration with an Iowa-based engineering group. The ideal candidate is a mid-career engineer with approximately 5 or more years of experience who is comfortable wearing multiple hats and spending the majority of their time on the manufacturing floor. Responsibilities • Support new product development by providing Design for Manufacturing (DFM) input on assembly methods, materials, tooling, fixturing, inspection requirements, labor, and cost., • Assist the production team with prototype builds, process setup, and smooth transition from prototype to full production., • Provide day-to-day technical support to production leadership, troubleshooting and resolving manufacturing issues related to slip ring and electromechanical assembly., • Support machining and CNC-related processes as needed to maintain throughput and quality., • Create, update, and maintain clear work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and assembly documentation., • Support quality documentation activities, ensuring that quality processes and assigned actions are properly documented and followed., • Assist in documenting incoming parts, new processes, and production changes to maintain accurate records and traceability., • Serve as the technical lead for assembly efficiency, ergonomics, and automation improvements on the manufacturing floor., • Support Manufacturing 4.0 and continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving efficiency, productivity, safety, quality, and cost., • Write technical justifications and submit capital requests for new equipment and machinery to enhance manufacturing capabilities., • Work closely with design engineering teams to support manufacturability, project planning, and implementation of new and existing products., • Act as a day-to-day communication link between production, engineering, and operations, including regular coordination with an Iowa-based design team., • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding tooling, equipment, and production-related issues to ensure reliable and efficient operations., • Prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a professional, organized, and analytical approach.Essential Skills, • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a similar role., • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred., • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement principles., • Hands-on troubleshooting and root cause analysis capability in a production environment., • Proficiency with CAD software, including experience designing tooling and fixtures (SolidWorks experience is highly relevant)., • Experience with machining and CNC operations and their application in manufacturing processes., • Ability to create and maintain clear, structured documentation, including work instructions and SOPs., • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the broader Microsoft Office suite., • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills., • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, production-focused environment., • Professional, organized, analytical, and adaptable work style., • Experience with automation or semi-automated equipment in a manufacturing setting., • Experience with quality processes and continuous improvement methodologies, such as Six Sigma., • Experience supporting manufacturing processes for electromechanical assemblies or similar products.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM) to optimize assembly methods, materials, tooling, and inspection approaches., • Background in industrial engineering concepts such as time studies and labor optimization., • Experience in product development processes from prototype through production ramp-up., • Familiarity with Manufacturing 4.0 concepts and initiatives aimed at digitalization and data-driven improvements., • Experience working with slip ring assemblies, rotary components, or other high-precision electromechanical products is beneficial., • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including production, design engineering, quality, and operations., • Experience coordinating with vendors and suppliers for tooling, equipment, and process support., • Comfort working in a dynamic production environment where priorities can shift based on customer and operational needs., • Interest in ergonomics and assembly line optimization to improve safety and efficiency.Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position in a high-performance electromechanical component manufacturing environment. The standard schedule runs Tuesday through Friday from 5:30 AM to 4:00 PM, with paid overtime available as needed to support production demands. The role is highly hands-on and requires spending the majority of time on the manufacturing floor, working closely with production teams, machining operations, and assembly areas. You will work with precision slip ring assemblies and rotary components used in medical devices, industrial automation, laboratory equipment, and defense and aerospace applications. The environment combines the agility of a small, collaborative manufacturing team with the resources and stability of a larger organization. Engineers partner closely with production, design engineering, and operations to continuously improve manufacturability, efficiency, quality, and throughput in a dynamic, fast-paced setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South El Monte, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $41.00/hr.
