Job Description Manage Engineering of Kelvion Knoxville Products Lines. Lead the design engineering process for Kelvion Knoxville. Partner with the Global Engineering function on process, tools, and technology. RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES Leadership & Team Management • Work with Global Engineering Groups for each product (new and existing) to understand their system and practices., • Manage personnel assigned to Engineering department at Knoxville., • Lead your team by example, by personally taking on leadership of new projects that support our goals of safety, quality, revenue and cost., • Facilitate design engineers being able to produce designs that are capable of being manufactured and economically feasible., • Introduce and utilize tools like design to cost and VA/VE to enhance our operating margins., • Train and implement in the Design Engineering Group Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) Plans for each family/product. In this process each engineering group working with manufacturing should include Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)., • Collaborate with the VP of Operations to establish department goals and objectives that align with the organizational goals. Waterfall those goals to your direct reports and develop a plan with each person to meet and be accountable for those goals and objectives., • Facilitate CAD models and assemblies into detail drawings that include all dimensions and notes necessary for manufacture., • Facilitate generation of 3D component parts and assemblies of proposed designs in appropriate CAD system, check dimension of parts, material to be used, relation of one part to another, and relation of various parts to whole structure or project., • Assure use of Inventor 3D CAD systems to generate solid models, 3D assemblies, and 2D drawings and layouts., • Assure maintenance of all electronic CAD data and 2D drawings and routinely perform checks to ensure that department generated data is compliant with company practices., • Lead the creations of finished designs from sketches., • Assure the appropriate drafting standards are created and improved utilizing appropriate company guidelines., • Direct entry into ERP System for the Bills of Manufacture, Production Versions, and Engineering Change Notices., • Work with the Director of OPEX and Lead your departments continuous improvement efforts., • Partner and lead efforts with Purchasing, QA, Engineering, Finance, and Manufacturing regarding new and revised designs or drawing, including designs to our suppliers. ., • Develop business cases and ROI justifications for new equipment, tooling, and technology., • Oversee capital projects from concept through installation, qualification, and handover., • Work to implement Objectives and Key Results process which will be separate from goals and objectives., • Facilitate use of metrics to measure effectiveness of Design Team and Drawing Lead time., • Facilitate creation and revision to production drawings (component part, layout, and assembly drawings) that include detailed multi-views with all necessary dimensions., • Assure each team member meets each Phase Gate Date., • Assure each team member meets required customer dates, within their control., • Assure documentation for compliance with ISO 9001., • Performs all activities in accordance with the Quality Management System., • Define, measure and execute to Direct Cost Savings of existing products and New Product Design Projects., • All other duties assigned required business needs. OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES • To ensure Kelvion’s Standard of Excellence, which includes safety and quality, is incorporated into every product we produce., • Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Global Code of Business Principles, Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, Vision and Values, Operational Framework REQUIREMENTS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES) • Good technical writing and communication skills essential., • Must be able to effectively facilitate personnel at remote production facilities., • Computer skill with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) is required., • A high skill level in Inventor CAD system. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (required levels) • BS degree in Engineering or Technology or comparable years’ experience., • Ten years related experience., • Highly experienced with Autodesk Inventor, • Proven history of leading technical staff, • Experience in Supervising employees, • Experience with Syteline, SAP, or other ERP System PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
