Job DescriptionPosition Description: Company Purpose/Mission: Roy Maas Youth Alternatives (RMYA) creates brighter futures for children in crisis by promoting individual success and healthy relationships in a safe, healing environment, giving children and families the tools to end the cycle of abuse. RMYA provides treatment programs for traumatized children who most often are victims of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse. RMYA supports using trauma-informed techniques and relationship-based approaches to create a safe environment that provides consistency, structure, and caring for the children we serve. Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician III reports to the Facilities Manager. This position is responsible for keeping the campus safe for our youth and staff and contributing to, and upholding, the RMYA mission and core values. The Maintenance Technician III position demonstrates an intermediate to advanced level of maintenance and repair expertise regarding plumbing fixtures and components, electrical fixtures, HVAC fixtures, carpentry repairs, painting, locks, grounds maintenance, and other maintenance as assigned. The position is responsible for preventive and repair maintenance on all systems, equipment and components used throughout the agency to provide utilities, transportation, building comfort, and safety. The position identifies and conducts repairs inside buildings that house youth and is responsible for maintaining the grounds and safety for those buildings. This position collaborates and assists co-workers when requested. This position responds to emergencies, problem-solves, and participates in the RMYA Emergency Management and Response Team. This position assists with volunteer activities to include setting up events and programs and coordinating with internal and external event coordinators and stakeholders. This position requires 1-3 years of experience in the plumbing, electrical, construction, carpentry fields or similar industry and displays a high level of initiative to learn more about other fields while contributing to the overall team and RMYA mission and values. This position participates in the on-call rotation with responsibility to respond to after-hours emergencies and safety concerns within a timely and appropriate manner. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Administration: Ensures timely completion of tasks, assignments, reports.Ensures timely and pro-active reporting of issues and safety concerns.Conducts routine checks and maintenance on all Life Safety Equipment, verifies the completion and all inspection dates are current.Obtains permission to purchase items for repairs and maintenance when needed and follows applicable accounting guidelines for purchases and submission of receipts.Maintains accountability and inventory of assigned tools, parts, and materials on a routine basis.Attends and participates in regularly scheduled meetings.Clocks in and out using approved time management methods, tracks and certifies time on a routine basis, provides requests for time off in a timely manner.Function Management: Assists the team in meeting all general maintenance and repair requests and ensures those requests are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, and federal, state, and local codes to maintain compliance with licensing & COA standards.Ensures tools and debris are removed and cleaned prior to leaving the job site.Verifies with the customer that the job meets or exceeds their request and satisfaction.Performs intermediate to experienced level maintenance and repair on all building systems as assigned to include repairs on plumbing, HVAC and electrical repairs, and knowledge when to call experts; replaces doors and locks, replaces broken or damaged windows, repairs damaged walls, prepares and paints surfaces, other duties as assigned.Ensures the routine maintenance of the vehicle fleet to include maintaining logs, oil changes, repairs, tune ups and ensuring repairs are completed as needed.Supervises and assists youth related to building and grounds maintenance.Relationships and Collaboration: Attends and participates in all meetings to include team meetings and RMYA staff activities as required.Attends and participates in all required professional training, workshops and or continuing education as assigned.Maintains professional and ethical standards as prescribed by RMYA and the professional code of ethics for any licensure.Maintains confidentiality in all areas of client and program operations.Represents RMYA in a professional manner at events.Supports all RMYA policies and procedures.Abides by the RMYA Employee Policy Handbook.Other Duties/Responsibilities: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Required Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience: 1-3 years of experience demonstrating an understanding and knowledge of maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, automotive repair, painting principles and practices.Certification/Licenses: Valid Texas drivers license or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire. Must be able to work on ladders and elevated platforms. Must tolerate various work conditions and utilize cleaning chemicals, solutions, aerosol, and powder forms. Few opportunities to relax during shifts; constant walking, standing, bending, reaching, arm and wrist rotation, twisting, squatting, kneeling, climbing, crouching; frequent crawling, jumping, lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, pushing and pulling up to 120 pounds, grasping, pinching, confrontations with distressed youth, and driving. Must be able to compose regular reports via typing.Work Environment: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Shifts in environmental conditions i.e., hot, cold, outdoor, indoor, dry, humid, noise, vibration, glare, moving objects, working at heights, slippery surfaces, congested areas, sharp edges, fumes/vapors/gases, electromagnetic fields. Ability to work for extended periods in a varied temperature environment. Fast-pace work using sensory demands i.e., hearing, vision, speech, spatial perception, tactile, smell; dealing with multiple, complex, and repetitive tasks, working under pressure and deadlines, attention to detail and precise standards, close supervision, following instructions, working alone and in groups, irregular hours, travelling, and confrontational situations.
